The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of our facilities. The Facilities Engineer will play a key role in ensuring that our facilities meet safety, regulatory, and operational standards while implementing cost-effective solutions, especially in the context of launching new automotive vehicle projects as part of the manufacturing engineering organization.\n\nWhat you get to do:\nPrioritize safety above all to protect our team members, partners, and customers.\nPlan, design, and oversee construction and maintenance of facilities, with a focus on supporting the launch of new automotive vehicle projects.\nCollaborate with manufacturing engineering teams, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop and implement facility projects in alignment with vehicle launch schedules.\nManage facility improvement projects, Pilot vehicle office and shop facility specific to the unique requirements of automotive manufacturing, from conceptualization to completion.\nConduct regular inspections to identify maintenance and repair needs related to automotive manufacturing processes and coordinate necessary actions.\nDevelop and implement preventive maintenance programs for critical systems and equipment supporting automotive production.\nManage facility budgets, ensuring optimization of costs for maintenance and improvement projects related to automotive manufacturing.\nEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to facilities, with a particular emphasis on automotive manufacturing safety standards.\nOversee security systems and protocols to safeguard the facility, with consideration for the security requirements of automotive manufacturing.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams within the manufacturing engineering organization to address facility-related needs and requirements for automotive vehicle launches.\nManage relationships with external vendors and service providers, especially those contributing to automotive manufacturing facility projects.\nImplement energy conservation initiatives and sustainable practices specific to automotive manufacturing facilities.\nProvide technical expertise and support for facility-related issues in the context of launching new automotive vehicles.\nDevelop and maintain facility documentation, including blueprints, manuals, and records, with a focus on the unique requirements of automotive manufacturing.\n\nWhat you bring to the team:\nBachelor's Degree in Facility Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license and Master’s Degree are a plus.\n5+ years of proven experience as a Facility Engineer or in a similar role, with a track record of successfully supporting automotive vehicle launches.\nStrong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and facility management principles and best practices, especially in an automotive manufacturing context.\nExperience in project management, including planning, budgeting, and execution, with a focus on automotive manufacturing facility projects.\nAbility to troubleshoot and address facility-related issues promptly, specifically those impacting automotive manufacturing processes.\nFamiliarity with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards relevant to automotive manufacturing facilities.\nKnowledge of energy conservation practices and sustainability initiatives in the context of automotive manufacturing.\nExcellent organizational and multitasking skills.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nProficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software.\nCertification in Facility Management (CFM) is a plus.\n\nWe want to work with people that reflect the communities in which we operate.\nSlate is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
