Respect.Primary Functions And Job DetailsEnforces parking violations and performs other patrol services support tasks as assigned.Examples Of Essential DutiesFollows safe practices in the performance of duties.Enforces parking regulations.Answers calls of service related to parking complaints.Remains in constant radio contact with the Police Bureau to report any unsafe or unlawful situations.Maintains assigned equipment in clean and operable condition.Delivers correspondence to various offices within the City, as assigned.Regulates, directs, and controls vehicular and pedestrian traffic when assigned.Provides traffic control at various parades and special City functions, requiring traffic control or crowd control, as assigned.Regulates and controls traffic at a school street crossing point, providing protection to children crossing the street, when substituting for a School Crossing Guard.Initiates 48-hour checks for Abandoned Vehicles and complete and forward appropriate paperwork. Maintains records according to established procedures.Communicates clearly with customers and staff.Responds to questions and concerns from the general public.Deals tactfully and courteously with the public and maintains composure in difficult and/or stressful situations.Performs tasks as directed by OIC of Patrol Services.Typical QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience Graduation from High School or completion of GED is required.Licenses and Certificates Possession of a valid Pennsylvania State Driver’s License is required.Ability to become first aid certified within one (1) year in position is required as well as the ability to utilize these skills in an emergency situation.Environmental ConditionsExposed to inclement weather and extreme temperature, including long periods of standing outdoors.Works outdoors and indoors with, or without, heat and/or air conditioning.Exposure to noise and pollution.Safety Equipment Used or NeededNoneKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of safe practices related to enforcement of parking violations.Knowledge of City streets is required.Ability to comprehend the use of a hand held computer device is required.Ability to operate a vehicle on private and public streets is required.Ability to perform basic computer tasks is required.Ability to interpret, verify, and accurately enter data into an electronic/computerized device is required.Ability to provide information, in a courteous, friendly, yet firm manner when dealing with the public is required.
