About the role
We are looking for a standout Account Director to join our growing team. Working closely with Thermal leadership you will have a unique opportunity to build collaborative, long-term partnerships with some of the most revolutionary health and biotech executives, scientists, venture capitalists, and technologists in the world.
About you
You are a savvy communicator and confident leader that thrives in a fast-paced, disruptive environment. You understand the biotech and health communications landscape and have a proven track record of thoughtful counsel, robust strategies, flawless tactical execution, and consistently strong results.
Responsibilities:
Independently lead multiple client engagements in a fast-paced, disruptive environment; demonstrate responsibility and accountability for overall agency performance and delivery.
Manage projects and programs, including evaluation, planning, budgeting, staffing, prioritization, and timelines; develop strategic and tactical plans; identify opportunities for client brand growth; direct day-to-day work with assistance from agency staff
Draft detailed materials including program plans, client memos, press releases, op-eds, speeches, etc.; ensure all materials and correspondence meet client objective; utilize excellent writing and fast editing capabilities to help shape client stories and narratives
Establish and maintain relationships with key media; ensure pitch campaigns are strategic, correctly messaged, and executed flawlessly
Guide strategy for media relations, brand development, and reputation management and deliver strong analyses, strategy and concepts to new programs
Monitor and communicate a point of view on current market trends, funding, and industry issues
Direct and facilitate team contributions to staff and client meetings
Take a key role in new business development initiatives to drive agency growth
Supervisory skills with a deft ability to inspire and develop junior agency staff through mentorship, feedback and collaboration; experience managing contractors
The responsibilities of this role will vary depending on the needs of each specific account and will not be limited to those listed above.
Requirements
8–10+ years of PR and media relations experience including agency, with work in biotech, pharma, healthcare, healthtech, tech or science communications
Genuine passion for health and science
Strong grasp of the industry and media landscape
Established relationships with key reporters at tier 1 business, technology, and health and science publications
Solid client-facing experience managing integrated communications programs with successful, measurable results
Direct and transparent interpersonal communication skills
Exceptional writing, editing, and analytical skills
Calmness under pressure and ability to achieve within tight deadlines
Polished, professional and timely with sound judgment and great attention to detail, tone and context; positive, team-oriented attitude
