This role requires strong production-grade Python engineering skills and the ability to deliver clean, well-tested, object-oriented code.\nWhat You’ll Do\nRefactor and modernize existing components of a financial forecasting and accounting application\nDesign and develop new custom components and integrate them into the Checkmate platform\nPerform heavy integration work across data, services, and application layers\nWrite clean, maintainable, production-grade Python code using solid Object-Oriented Programming principles\nDevelop and maintain strong automated unit and integration tests (pytest or equivalent)\nSupport critical production runs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accuracy and reliability of outputs\nCollaborate with stakeholders and team members to analyze requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions\nParticipate in code reviews, design discussions, and continuous improvement of engineering practices\nRequired Qualifications\nMinimum 5 years of hands-on production-grade Python software engineering experience (scripting or automation-only backgrounds will not be considered)\nStrong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills in Python\nSolid experience with unit testing and automated test frameworks (pytest strongly preferred)\nExperience with Git in a team-based development environment\nStrong SQL and relational database skills\nAbility to write clean, testable, high-quality code and work in an Agile environment\nExcellent problem-solving and communication skills\nAbility to work on-site in Tysons, VA\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Pandas\nFamiliarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)\nExposure to financial forecasting, fixed income concepts, or accounting systems\nExperience supporting production systems with high accuracy and reliability requirements\nInterview Process\nCandidates must demonstrate strong live coding and technical depth during the on-site interview\nIn person interview\nAbout ZipStaff\nZipStaff partners with leading organizations to connect skilled technology professionals with high-impact contract opportunities.
