Individuals that are well organized, show great attention to detail, and employ critical thinking are well-suited for our team.\n\nTHE PERSON:\n\nThis AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) team is looking for a Linux Software Engineer who can work with OS partners to enable Linux distros on AMD EPYC CPUs and Instinct GPUs. Team player who collaborates well with other AMD engineering teams to resolve AMD specific functional and performance issues involving AMD CPUs/GPUs and Linux distros. The desired candidate should be willing to take ownership on behalf of AMD and work with the OS partner and AMD internal teams to enable timely resolution. You will be involved in all areas that impact the team including performance, automation, and development. The right candidate will be informed on the latest trends and become prepared to give consultative direction to senior management.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nA powerful desire to learn new skills and understand new features as they are added\nProven record of accomplishment within and across groups.\nEffective communication skills\nResponsible for exploring opportunities to improve our products and/or our processes\nWork closely with other team members to understand design architecture and to propose solutions to improve and enhance product quality and feature readiness.\nWork hands-on within a multi-machine lab environment to deploy software, reproduce issues, execute validation plans, analyze results, and drive root-cause investigations across interconnected systems.\nCoordinate the investigation, debug, and resolution of complex technical issues, driving effective cross-functional collaboration through root-cause identification and corrective action.\nAnalyze incomplete or ambiguous information, apply sound technical judgment, and make data-driven recommendations to advance program and product objectives.\n\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:\n\nExposure to server systems architecture\nLinux kernel and virtualization (KVM) debugging skills\nLinux feature backporting and upstreaming experience a plus\nExperience running and analyzing server system benchmarks\nBasic programming skills in Python, C, or C++\nAbility or desire to use AI tools to maximize productivity\nExperience working effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed engineering organization with geographically distributed teams\nUnderstanding of server platform architecture and the interaction between hardware, firmware, operating systems, virtualization, and application software\nDemonstrated ability to deliver complex technical solutions through collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines\n\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:\n\nBachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or equivalent\n\nLOCATION:\n\nSanta Clara, CA\n\nThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.\n\n#LI-LM1\n\n#LI-HYBRID\n\nQualifications:\n\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\n\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
