Advanced RN - Surgical Orthopedics Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing exceptional surgical orthopedic nursing care. This role involves delivering direct patient care through the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise, and upholding the highest ethical standards in nursing practice. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment. Maintain and care for central lines while preventing surgical site infections according to policy. Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to support positive health outcomes. Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and communicate findings effectively to the healthcare team. Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance with quality standards. Collaborate and delegate within the team to foster accountability and teamwork. Engage with patients and families promptly to improve their experience and provide necessary education. Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills. Education Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required. Experience At least one year of nursing experience is preferred. Requirements Current RN license valid in the state or through compact licensure; graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Mental and Physical Demands This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
