Job Purpose The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Quality Assurance team, including supervision of QA Technicians, to ensure compliance of company and regulatory standards for food safety and product quality. This position will report to the Quality Assurance Manager. Scheduled Shift: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Saturday. Sunday shifts may be required per production needs. Employees must be able to safely and effectively perform work within this environment, while adhering to all safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices, and food safety standards. Exposure to airborne and contact allergens is unavoidable. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage QA & Sanitation personnel assignments, scheduling, and perform daily routine floor inspections as well as weekly facility inspections. QA Supervisor will be expected to continuously make rounds throughout all 4 sites daily, prioritizing inspections over time spent in the office. Monitor QA Tech shift checks, allergen & environmental swabbing, and assist scheduling facility cleanings. Ensure all production lines are staffed with appropriate QC coverage, stepping in to cover when needed. Ensure compliance of QA, Safety, and HR policies through QA personnel monitoring, training, and daily in-person communication. Maintain Quality department supplies inventory and coordinate with Procurement Manager to ensure supplies are ordered and received in a timely manner. Operational and Administrative Support Collaborate with productions managers to resolve production/QA issues. Collect and review daily production Quality CCP records. Facilitate internal and customer specification compliance. Assist the FS&QA Manager with Food Safety and SQF. Assist in internal and external plant inspections. Coordinate pest control activities with third-party vendor and report findings to management. Company Policy and Food Safety Take part in annual training of employees as defined in training program. Communicates any Food Quality, Food Safety, or Personnel Safety issue to Management Team and/or Food Safety Team. Adherence to all company and departmental policies and procedures, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Safety policies. Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Manager and FS&QA Manager. Knowledge and Skill Requirements Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others individually and in team setting. Strong leadership skills are essential. Excellent verbal and written skills. Good problem solving, analytical, & trouble shooting skills required. Must be dependable, treat others with respect, and be a self-starter. Ability to work in Microsoft Office efficiently (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Education and/or Experience Associate’s degree (or equivalent 2-year college degree) or a minimum of 5 years of experience in the food industry. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations HACCPCertification Required Work Environment The primary work environment includes exposure to food allergens, including peanuts and tree nuts, as well as other potential irritants such as spices. Employees must be able to work safely in an environment where airborne and contact exposure to peanuts and tree nuts is unavoidable. The QA Supervisor will spend approximately 70% of working time within the production and plant areas and approximately 30% in an office setting. The primary work environment is a production floor setting, where temperatures may vary from hot to cold based on seasonal changes and operational conditions. Employees may be exposed to moderate-to-high noise levels, humidity, and other typical environmental factors of a production facility. Includes some office work involving computer use and administrative tasks in a standard office environment. Required Physical Demands Ability to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, crouching, bending, reaching, and lifting as necessary throughout a 12-hour shift. Continuous standing in one location for long periods (2-3 hours before break). Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs., repeatedly. Climbing ladders and stairs to access inspection areas. Ability to walk and stand in slippery environments (oil, water, slurry, ingredients). Must be able to perform organoleptic review of products. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the role will be provided during new hire safety training to ensure compliance with safety standards. Additional PPE requirements can be found on job specific SOPs. Travel Required Minimal travel required. Must be willing to occasionally travel to corporate headquarters in Severn, NC or other plants for training, continuous improvement, or other initiatives.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
