Track compliance with regulatory government entities.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nAs a technical expert, independently evaluate plans and specifications for projects prepared by other architects, engineers, and design professionals.\n\nPerform examinations in collaboration with other disciplines to meet the review schedule.\n\nEnsure projects meet UT adopted codes, standards, programmatic needs, sustainability goals, and minimize inflationary construction costs.\n\nResolve highly complex and technical issues related to design and construction independently.\n\nApply knowledge of building codes and UT Standards during construction.\n\nProvide input and update discipline-specific requirements in the UT Austin Standards.\n\nAssist Facilities Maintenance and other university personnel throughout all project phases.\n\nMaintain required record‑keeping systems.\n\nPerform value‑management engineering studies for schematic, preliminary, and cost‑management stages.\n\nMaintain required discipline license and continue education requirements.\n\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nProfessional Engineer license (PE) in Texas or reciprocity with Texas.\n\nBachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering with focus on Electrical Engineering.\n\nTen or more years of design and construction experience with emphasis on code enforcement, design documents, specifications, and construction practices.\n\nKnowledge of specialized standards in the area of expertise.\n\nAbility to apply thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to difficult and unique assignments.\n\nAbility to develop and review requests for code or design exceptions.\n\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.\n\nStrong communication and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nFive or more years of design and on-site experience with medical and healthcare facilities.\n\nMaster's Degree or advanced degree in Engineering with focus on Electrical Engineering.\n\nExperience evaluating complex designs and making professional judgments about alternative technical practices.\n\nOn-site experience at major construction sites with familiarity of building systems including foundations, structures, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.\n\nSalary Range\n$120,000 + depending on qualifications\n\nWorking Conditions\n\nStandard office\n\nKeyboard use\n\nManual dexterity required\n\nRequired Materials\n\nResume/CV\n\n3 work references with contact information; at least one from a supervisor\n\nLetter of interest\n\nImportant for applicants who are NOT current university employees or contingent workers\nYou will be prompted to submit your resume the first time you apply, then you will be provided an option to upload a new resume for subsequent applications.
