BIM DesignerThe BIM Designer supports complex electrical construction projects by developing highly detailed 2D and 3D models and drawings that directly drive field installation and prefabrication activities. This role works closely with sr designers, project managers, and field forepersons to translate design concepts into constructible, dimensionally precise models that improve productivity, reduce clashes, and enhance coordination across trades. The BIM Designer focuses on electrical systems for large, long-duration projects and uses Revit and related tools to create functional, buildable models rather than purely conceptual designs.Responsibilities include developing Revit model families for both general use and project-specific electrical needs, producing shop drawings, submittal drawings, as-built drawings, installation drawings, and other project documentation that field teams and prefabrication departments can use directly for construction. The BIM Designer models electrical system components in Revit, including switchgear, conduit, cable tray, lighting, and related elements, with a clear understanding of how these systems will be installed in the field. Highly detailed, dimensionally accurate drawings are created that allow field and prefabrication teams to replicate the model in construction, going beyond typical engineering-level detail. The BIM Designer attends internal and external coordination meetings, including BIM coordination and clash detection sessions, to help identify and resolve issues early in the design and construction process. The role represents the company professionally in BIM coordination and clash detection meetings, working with project teams to coordinate work, clear clashes, and meet project BIM requirements. The BIM Designer assists with the coordination and management of electronic project files, ensuring models, drawings, and related documents are organized, current, and accessible to stakeholders.Skills and qualifications include experience building custom electrical Revit families, expert-level Revit skills, particularly in electrical modeling and family creation, electrical knowledge or bd, such as prior work in electrical design, drafting, or field experience, and an associate degree in a related field. Familiarity with Bluebeam and MS Office for documentation, markups, and communication, and experience using Robotic Total Station software or similar layout tools are also beneficial. The work environment is within an established electrical division that focuses on industrial, commercial, and institutional projects, including healthcare facilities, schools, clinics, data centers, battery storage installations, large solar and power plants, and other complex electrical jobs. The team has been using Revit extensively since 2013 and is recognized as having one of the stronger BIM departments in the region, with a reputation for producing a high volume of accurate, data-rich models that directly support field and prefabrication operations.
