This role provides technical leadership for the development, optimization, and support of PCB assembly processes, ensuring high quality, reliability, and efficiency across our products.\n\nThe Manufacturing Engineer will lead and support SMT and through-hole assembly operations, including solder paste application, pick-and-place programming, reflow profiling, wave and selective soldering, inspection, and test. Working closely with R&D, manufacturing, and cross-functional engineering teams, this position plays a key role in driving design-for-manufacturing readiness, improving process capability, and delivering long-term yield and reliability improvements.\n\nThe ideal candidate brings deep expertise in PCB assembly technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to lead continuous improvement efforts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nRepresentative Responsibilities:\n\nOwn and optimize PCB assembly processes, including SMT programming, stencil design, solder paste application, pick-and-place, reflow, wave/selective soldering, and AOI.\nLead complex root cause investigations for assembly defects and implement effective corrective actions.\nDrive DFM reviews with design teams to ensure products are ready for high-quality, scalable manufacturing.\nDevelop and maintain robust process documentation.\nEvaluate, qualify, and implement new equipment, materials, fixtures, and technologies to improve capability and throughput.\nMentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance in troubleshooting, process control, and best practices.\nParticipates in the development effort under the direction of management and more senior team members.\nMakes design modifications or improvements to development projects with supervision.\nMaintains project reference documentation.\nDevelops test and verification procedures.\nMay be involved in continuing engineering maintenance and manufacturing floor support of existing products.\nProvides task completion time estimates.\nBecomes familiar with tools and applications utilized by department.\nLearns department and corporate policies, procedures and plans.\nAnalyze and redesign products for improvements using design of experiments (DOE), finite element analysis (FEA), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) or other engineering tools.\nAnalyze production processes; develop and implement process improvement plans.\nAnalyze, test and develop products and process improvements for cost reduction opportunities.\nDevelops and implements process standards with affected departments.\nAssists in optimizing the layout and design of production processes and facilities.\nCoordinates the setup and installation of production lines and equipment.\nComplete ergonomic and human factor studies to improve the workstation and work environment.\nComplete job and task analysis studies and implement the improvements.\nAssists in managing the release of products into manufacturing.\nEnsures Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) are processed appropriately.\nDevelops the manufacturing plan and its approval.\nAssists in designing and developing new tools and jigs.\nEnsures documentation is complete and accurate before product is released to production.\nEnsures Bill of Materials (BOM) are structured appropriately and are accurate.\nEnsures part numbers are assigned and new parts have accurate descriptions.\nUses Quick Response Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing and lead-time reduction.\nWorks with regulatory compliance agencies such as Underwriters Laboratory (UL), EPA, CE, OSHA on compliance and manufacturing related tasks.\nWorks with suppliers to ramp up production of parts and to resolve issues on existing parts.\nUses Lean manufacturing tools including Value Stream Maps, 5S, etc.\nPrepares supply chain maps and reports.\nUses personal computer and computer controls to analyze and solve engineering problems.\nUses SolidWorks CAD software to design engineering solutions.\nUses programming such as LabVIEW, C++, databases for engineering solutions.\nUses electrical test equipment (i.e., voltmeter, oscilloscope, amp meter, etc.) to analyze problems.\nUses mechanical test equipment (i.e., dial calipers, height gauge, etc.) to analyze problems.\nDesigns mechanical mechanisms to solve engineering problems.\nApplies knowledge in AC/DC motors, motor drives and controls to solve problems.\nUnderstands CNC machining, CNC programming, metal fabrication and processing.\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\nGrade and level to be determined, based on education and experience.\nTechnical Bachelor’s Degree.\nAll levels of previous job-related experience will be considered.\nDemonstrates basic written and verbal skills.\nHas good grasp of grammar and sentence structure for technical writing.\nListens and gives constructive feedback.\nGood group interaction skills.\nAbility to follow directions and project plans.\nDemonstrates ability to solve problems of limited scope and perform root cause analysis.\nAnalyzes data using standard, straightforward methods.\nGrasps technical concepts and asks for clarification and direction when needed.\nAbility to implement designs for well-defined blocks.\nUnderstands and applies accepted engineering principles and practices.\nAssists with design or modification of a product, service, or process.\nETC offers a laid-back, clean, climate-controlled work environment with excellent benefits starting on day one.
