This role ensures boards are coated accurately, consistently, and in accordance with workmanship standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures. The operator works closely with technicians, leads, and quality personnel to maintain throughput, quality, and process stability.\nKey Responsibilities\nMachine Operation & Production\nSet up, operate, and monitor conformal coating equipment (selective spray, automated systems, or manual-assisted processes).\nLoad and unload PCBAs, ensuring correct orientation, fixturing, and program selection.\nStart, stop, and adjust machine parameters as directed by work instructions or process documentation.\nMonitor coating application for proper coverage, thickness, and alignment during production runs.\nProcess Monitoring & Quality\nPerform in-process inspections using UV light, magnification, or inspection lamps to verify coating quality.\nIdentify coating defects such as skips, bubbles, bridging, overspray, or masking issues.\nEscalate quality concerns or recurring defects to leads, supervisors, or process engineering.\nSupport minor touch-up or corrective actions as trained and approved.\nMasking & Board Preparation\nApply and remove masking materials per work instructions prior to and after coating.\nPrepare boards for coating by verifying cleanliness, masking integrity, and traveler accuracy.\nAssist with demasking and post-coating handling to prevent damage to coated assemblies.\nEquipment & Material Handling\nRefill coating materials, solvents, and consumables following safety and handling procedures.\nPerform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance tasks.\nMaintain coating equipment, fixtures, and workstations in a clean and organized condition.\nProperly label, store, and handle chemicals in accordance with safety and environmental requirements.\nDocumentation & Reporting\nAccurately complete travelers, production logs, and inspection checklists.\nRecord lot information, machine settings (as required), and any process deviations.\nCommunicate production status, downtime, or issues during shift handoffs.\nCompliance & Safety\nFollow all manufacturing instructions, IPC workmanship standards, and ESD control procedures.\nAdhere to chemical safety, PPE, and environmental regulations.\nMaintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area at all times.\nQualifications\nPreferred\nExperience operating manufacturing or automated equipment in an electronics or PCBA environment.\nFamiliarity with conformal coating processes and materials (acrylic, silicone, urethane).\nAbility to read and follow work instructions, travelers, and process documentation.\nBasic understanding of IPC-A-610 standards or willingness to obtain certification.\nComfortable working with UV inspection tools and precision equipment.\nSoft Skills\nStrong attention to detail and process discipline.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a production team.\nClear communication skills and willingness to escalate issues.\nDependable, safety-conscious, and quality-focused.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand or sit for extended periods.\nFine-motor coordination for handling PCBAs and masking materials.\nAbility to lift up to 20 lbs as required.\nBenefits\n401(k) with company match\nMedical, dental, vision, and life insurance\nPaid time off and company holidays\nOpportunities for advancement in a growing, high-tech manufacturing environment\nSchedule\n8-hour shift, Monday–Friday\nOvertime and weekend availability as needed\n\nRocket EMS will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the California Fair Chance Act.
