Together, we advance your career.\nResponsibilities:\nTHE ROLE\n\nWe have a brand new opportunity due to growth for an Electronics Engineering Technician skilled in electronics, PCBs and discrete components for GPU-based compute platforms. You will work with oscilloscopes, lab electronic test equipment, power supplies, digital multimeters, digital analyzers, impedance analyzers, and server hardware including removal, repair and replacement soldering of discrete components and more. In this role, you will support Engineering teams in hardware, systems, and infrastructure in enabling reliable, high-performance AI compute at scale.\n\nThis opportunity is an onsite role, based in our new engineering lab in Austin, TX supporting state of the art AI Data Center Systems (Servers & GPUs).\n\nTHE PERSON\n\nYou bring successful previous hands-on experience and skills working with hardware, PCBs and discrete components, work experience in lab or data center ESD environments and the ability to troubleshoot complex server electronics, discrete components, circuits and GPU issues under tight schedules.\n\nYou are highly motivated and have an ability to work independently while supporting fast-paced engineering teams. You are also known for your strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.\n\nYour excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills have helped you build a track record of working collaboratively and efficiently with engineers, technicians, and operations staff at all levels. And most importantly, you have a consistently safety-focused mindset when working around high power and cooling systems.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nInstall and maintain PCBs including rework and replacement soldering of discrete hardware components, circuit testing and more for AI servers, GPU platforms, and related infrastructure\nPerform bring-up and debug of server hardware components, PCBs, GPUs, and interconnects\nExecute hardware modifications, including:\nCable routing and management (power, networking, high-speed interconnects)\nInstallation of GPUs, NICs, memory, storage, and accelerators\nTest point installation, probing, and signal measurements\nDiagnose and troubleshoot:\nPower, thermal, and cooling issues\nFailures, GPU detection issues, and PCIe errors\nHardware faults such as shorts, damaged PCBs, or marginal components\nSupport failure analysis and root-cause investigations\nCoordinate with cross-functional teams (hardware, systems, facilities, IT, safety)\nMaintain accurate documentation of configurations, changes, and test results\nSupport lab and data center operations, including rack builds, rework, and audits\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\nHands-on experience with server hardware and PCBs including removal, repair and replacement soldering of discrete components for data center systems and GPU or accelerator-based platforms\nStrong understanding of power delivery, cooling, and airflow in high-density systems, and, PCIe and high-speed interconnects\nHands on work experience using lab tools such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers\nComfortable working in ESD-controlled lab and data center environments\nAbility to lift and rack servers (with assistance as required)\nExperience with:\nLiquid-cooled or hybrid-cooled server systems\nHigh-power GPU racks (multi-kW per rack)\nKnowledge and experience in fundamentals of electronics, circuitry,\nPrior work in hyperscale data centers, engineering labs, or NPI environments; Experience supporting AI platforms in the semiconductor industry\nExperience reading and understanding schematics, BOMs, and hardware debug documentation\n\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS\n\nAssociate degree or trade education certification in Electronics, Computer Engineering or related field\nElectronics theory and design coursework\nRelated certifications are highly desirable\n\nThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.\n\n#LI-MP2\nQualifications:\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\n\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
