Daycare Transportation Driver

Position Overview: We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Daycare Transportation Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting children to and from our daycare facility, school, and other scheduled activities in a safe and timely manner. You will serve as a trusted representative of our center while ensuring that every child in your care is secure, accounted for, and treated with kindness and respect. Key Responsibilities: Safe Transport: Drive children safely to and from school, home, field trips, and other approved destinations in accordance with local traffic laws and daycare policies. Vehicle Inspections: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the daycare vehicle to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper maintenance. Report any mechanical issues immediately. Child Safety: Ensure that all children are properly secured in safety restraints or car seats, and supervise safe boarding and exiting from the vehicle. Attendance and Accountability: Maintain accurate attendance records for all transported children. Conduct headcounts before and after each trip to ensure no child is left behind. Communication: Maintain clear and respectful communication with parents, guardians, and daycare staff regarding pickup/drop-off times, behavior issues, or schedule changes. Behavior Management: Monitor and manage appropriate behavior during transportation, following established guidelines for safety and conduct. Emergency Preparedness: Follow all safety and emergency procedures in the event of an accident or incident while transporting children. General Support: Assist with other daycare-related tasks when not driving, including light cleaning, supervision, or event support as needed. This position may be a great fit for retired individuals or those looking for a meaningful part-time role! Qualifications and Skills: Must be at least 21 years of age. Must pass all required background checks for childcare employees (DHHS Child Abuse Registry, State Fingerprints, etc.). Must pass drivers daycare specific safety course. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Experience working with children is strongly preferred. Knowledge of local streets, traffic laws, and child transportation best practices. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or unexpected situations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Dependable, punctual, and committed to child safety. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and assist young children in and out of the vehicle. Ability to sit, drive, and remain alert for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate in all weather conditions. Working Conditions: Morning and afternoon shifts required (split shifts typical). some midday shifts, especially during the summer for field trips will be required. Work is primarily outdoors and inside a vehicle. Hours may vary depending on school schedules and daycare needs.
