This role is responsible for ABB robot programming, system integration, troubleshooting, process optimization, commissioning, and continuous improvement of automated production systems. The engineer will work closely with manufacturing, controls, quality, and production teams to improve safety, quality, throughput, and equipment reliability.\n\nDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nProgram, configure, and commission ABB industrial robots and robotic work cells.\nTroubleshoot and resolve robot, controls, tooling, and automation system issues.\nSupport manufacturing operations by diagnosing and correcting production downtime related to robotic systems.\nDevelop, modify, and optimize ABB robot programs for new and existing manufacturing processes.\nIntegrate robots with PLCs, vision systems, sensors, conveyors, and peripheral equipment.\nLead robotic system validation, testing, startup, and commissioning activities.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time, quality, safety, and OEE.\nSupport root cause analysis and corrective action activities for manufacturing issues.\nDevelop standard work, training documentation, and operating procedures.\nCollaborate with manufacturing, controls, quality, maintenance, and product engineering teams.\n\nEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:\n\nBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.\n5-15 years of experience in robotics, automation, and manufacturing engineering.\nExtensive hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting ABB industrial robots.\n\nREQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:\n\nStrong knowledge of ABB Robot Studio and robot controller platforms.\nExperience with robotic arc welding, material handling, assembly, machine tending, or automated manufacturing applications.\nExperience integrating robots with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent).\nStrong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.\nAbility to support shop-floor troubleshooting and manufacturing operations.\nGreater than 5 years of industrial robotics experience.\nStrong shop-floor presence and hands-on troubleshooting capability.\nAble to independently support production-critical robotic systems.\nExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.\n\nPREFERRED SKILLS:\n\nExperience with vision-guided robotics and automated inspection systems.\nExperience commissioning new automation equipment and production lines.\nKnowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.\nSix Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or equivalent continuous improvement experience.\nExperience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.\n\nTOP SKILLS:\n\nABB Robot Programming & Robot Studio\nRobotics Troubleshooting & Manufacturing Automation\nHands-on Manufacturing Engineering & Continuous Improvement\nOn-site troubleshooting and issue resolution, for ABB robotics applications across the engine assembly, test & paint operations on 1st shift (6-3pm EST) and 3rd shift (10pm-6am EST)\nRobotic program optimization, based on previous incidents and/or observations\nTeamwork with the PLC/Controls engineer on issues and related permanent resolution\nOptimization of current robot configuration (harness, cabling, end of arm tooling etc)\n\nWe are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and global team.
