Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to elevate the dining experience in our fine dining establishment. Responsibilities
Curate and maintain an extensive, high-quality wine list aligned with the restaurant’s menu and concept
Assist guests in selecting wines that complement their meals, offering detailed descriptions and recommendations
Upsell wine options to maximize sales while ensuring guest satisfaction through personalized service
Provide expert advice on food and wine pairings, drawing from culinary experience and menu planning skills
Manage wine inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, and proper storage to ensure freshness and quality
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wine cellar and service areas in accordance with food safety standards
Collaborate with kitchen staff on menu development, considering wine pairings for special events or banquets
Handle POS transactions accurately using systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, including cash handling and billing procedures
Ensure all food handling, serving, catering, and banquet protocols are followed to uphold food safety standards
Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with guests professionally, addressing inquiries promptly, and creating a welcoming atmosphere
Qualifications
Proven experience as a sommelier or in a similar fine dining role within the food industry
Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, and beverage service techniques; culinary experience is a plus
Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS; cash handling experience required
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to upsell effectively while maintaining professionalism
Experience in menu planning, food handling, catering, banquet service, and meal preparation preferred
Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Previous restaurant experience in fine dining settings is highly desirable
