ABOUT THIS POSITIONThe Probate Paralegal will support attorneys in all phases of trust, estate, and probate administration, including case management, court filings, client communication, asset collection and transfer, and preparation of related legal documents. Coolidge Wall has a large secretarial support staff to assist in making our attorneys and paralegals highly productive.Paralegal certificate or associates degree with 5+ years experience in probate, estate administration, and trust administrationMust have recent experience with probate administration in OhioExperience preparing federal estate and gift tax returnsStrong knowledge of probate procedures, court filings, deadlines, and legal documentationExceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently, multi-task, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively with attorneys and staffHigh proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software, specifically Excel, probate and trust administration software, and tax preparation softwareFamiliarity with probate case management systems and document management platforms (i.e. Estate Assist, GEMS, NetDocs)Strong written and verbal communication skillsJOB RESPONSIBILITIESAssist with all phases of trust administration, testamentary trusts, and estate administration matters from opening through closingPrepare, file, and coordinate services of probate pleadings, applications, notices, inventories, accountings, and final distribution documentsPrepare error-free and court-ready probate documents with a high level of accuracyCommunicate with clients, beneficiaries, courts, financial institutions, title companies, government agencies, CPAs, and other third parties regarding estate mattersAssist with identifying, collecting, valuing, transferring, and distributing estate and trust assetsAssess and manage creditors claims, payment coordination, and preparation of related documentationPrepare federal estate tax returnsMonitor and manage case progress and checklists, deadlines, and track required follow-up to ensure timely completion and fulfillment of deadline requirementsPrepares and records deeds and other real property transfer documentsAssists with preparation of guardianship and conservatorship petitionsEnsures compliance with probate court procedures, local rules, and filing requirementsABOUT OUR CULTUREOur employees enjoy a team-focused environment with bonus pay based on work performance.
