Clinical Lecturer of Social Work - Field Director
Description of Job Duty:The position plays a central role in program development and community engagement in support of the MSW program's CSWE accreditation.Essential Functions:Serve as Field Director for the MSW program, providing leadership in the development, implementation, and oversight of all field education components in accordance with CSWE Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS).Assist with the accreditation process, including preparation of self-study materials and supporting documentation for the Council on Social Work Education.Teach undergraduate social work courses (25% effort during initial program development) in the Sociology major, including the Criminal Justice and Social Work concentrations.Provide direct clinical services (24% effort) in the Tennessee Tech Center for Addiction Prevention and Support (CAPS), which serves clients with mental health and substance use disorders.Once the MSW program is fully implemented, devote 76% of responsibilities to teaching MSW coursework, coordinating all aspects of field placements, supervising practicum experiences, and engaging in program assessment.Serve as liaison between the program and community agencies, develop new partnerships, and ensure quality field instruction.Provide academic advising, mentorship, and contribute to the broader service mission of the department.Physical Demands:Those typical of any classroom-type environment or office environment.Special Instructions:Applicants will be required to electronically upload the following:A cover letter describing qualifications and interest in the positionCurriculum vitaeStatement of teaching philosophyDocumentation of licensure (if applicable)Names and contact information for three professional references who will be contacted at time of applicationCopies of transcripts (official transcripts for all degrees conferred required upon hire).Submission of materials is the applicant's responsibility. Full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2026. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.Minimum Qualifications:Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited institutionLicensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or eligibility for LMSW licensure in Tennessee through examination or reciprocity at the time of hireTwo years of social work practice experience beyond the MSWDemonstrated understanding of CSWE standards and field education as the signature pedagogy of social work education.Preferred Qualifications:Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).Experience providing direct care or therapy in mental health, substance use disorder (SUD), or related behavioral health settings.University-level teaching or student supervision experience.Familiarity with CSWE accreditation processes and field education administration.Practice experience in rural or underserved communities.
