The ideal candidate is highly skilled in both environmental and occupational safety fields, hands-on, and works well in a fast-paced environment. We work as a highly integrated team, and job responsibilities will include helping other programs to ensure the overall success of SpaceX.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nDevelop, implement, and enforce the site's construction/contractor EHS management program, ensuring requirements are understood and followed by contractors and subcontractors performing work for SpaceX\r\nDevelop and maintain safety observations from regular hazard identification inspections of facilities, machinery, safety equipment, and on-site construction activities\r\nIdentify and mitigate hazards to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and other applicable agencies\r\nCollaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments, establish Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, determine safeguards, and implement health and safety policies and procedures to increase safety across all construction sites and projects\r\nMonitor and evaluate employee exposure to hazards during both nominal processes and emergencies\r\nDevelop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met by employees and contractors\r\nEducate and provide necessary safety training to construction personnel\r\nInvestigate and write corresponding reports for incidents, spills, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes, establish corrective actions, and preventive measures\r\nDevelop and maintain environmental compliance with all applicable regulations established by the EPA, RCRA, DOT, TECQ, and other applicable regulatory agencies\r\nBasic Qualifications\r\nBachelor's degree\r\n1+ years of experience in the design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety disciplines within the construction industry (internships may qualify)\r\nPreferred Skills And Experience\r\nBachelor's degree in engineering with an emphasis in occupational health and safety\r\nExperience in health and safety with commercial/industrial construction projects\r\nConstruction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)\r\nProficient with the management of high-risk activities including steel fabrication/erection, electrical safety, excavation, confined space, fall protection, welding, material handling, rigging, and heavy equipment operations\r\nBilingual in English and Spanish desired\r\nStrong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations\r\nStrong organizational and communication skills\r\nExperience applying Uniform Plumbing and Building Codes, National Electric Code, and International Fire Code\r\nFamiliarity with exposure monitoring for hazards such as carbon monoxide, silica dust, hexavalent chromium, volatile organic compounds, and other chemicals associated with construction and development operations\r\nExperience with emergency response communication and incident management in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water\r\nCompetencies in using Microsoft Office platforms, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams\r\nAdditional Requirements\r\nThis is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Bastrop, TX area\r\nPosition occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed\r\nITAR Requirements\r\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. lawful permanent resident (aka green card holder), a refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, an asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
