This role is responsible for designing the hybrid and cloud infrastructure that powers our next-generation software platform, ensuring our products are scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-efficient. The Cloud Architect will play a key role in defining how our SaaS and on-premise components integrate, communicate, and remain reliable under load and during outages.\nAs part of the Architecture organization, the Cloud Architect partners closely with Product Development, CloudOps, and Security teams to implement best practices for infrastructure automation, monitoring, and resilience. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with strategic architectural thinking, providing leadership in modern cloud design, event-driven systems, and distributed application performance.\nThis position is ideal for a seasoned architect passionate about hybrid environments, platform reliability, and modern infrastructure patterns.\nResponsibilities\nDefine and document cloud architecture patterns that support scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance across hybrid environments (Azure/AWS and on-premise).\nLead the design and implementation of event-driven and message-based integration frameworks using queues, topics, and publish-subscribe patterns.\nPartner with development teams to evolve product architectures for cloud readiness and resilience, supporting migration from legacy systems.\nChampion Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) and automation across deployment, configuration, and monitoring.\nCollaborate with Data and AI Architects to ensure consistent, secure, and performant data and AI workloads within the cloud ecosystem.\nResilience, Security, and Performance\nDesign strategies for business continuity and disaster recovery, including multi-region failover, backup, and recovery automation.\nEstablish observability standards (metrics, logs, traces) and implement monitoring solutions that provide actionable insights into application and infrastructure health.\nCollaborate with Security and CloudOps to implement identity, access, and compliance controls (SSO, identity federation, network isolation, encryption).\nOptimize cloud cost and performance by defining resource usage guidelines and reviewing system telemetry.\nCollaboration and Leadership\nPartner with CloudOps, Development, and DevOps teams to drive consistency and reliability across product lines.\nProvide architectural oversight on platform projects, ensuring alignment with Advantive’s modernization and platform vision.\nMentor engineers on cloud-native development, resilience, and operational excellence.\nPresent cloud strategy, architecture decisions, and outcomes to technical and executive stakeholders.\nCompetencies\nTechnical Leadership – Demonstrates deep architectural knowledge of cloud systems and inspires technical excellence across teams.\nHybrid Cloud Expertise – Strong understanding of hybrid architectures, networking, and integration between on-prem and cloud environments.\nEvent-Driven Design – Proven ability to architect message-driven, decoupled systems using queues and event buses.\nResilience and Observability – Skilled at building systems designed for failure, with proactive monitoring and rapid recovery capabilities.\nSecurity Awareness – Applies secure design principles and integrates them throughout architecture decisions.\nCollaboration – Works effectively with Product, CloudOps, and Security to deliver cohesive, reliable platform solutions.\nContinuous Improvement – Stays ahead of cloud technology trends and continuously enhances system design and operational efficiency.\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.\n7+ years of experience in software or infrastructure engineering, with at least 3 years in an architecture role.\nProven expertise in designing and operating cloud and hybrid systems on Microsoft Azure.\nHands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, or Bicep).\nStrong understanding of distributed systems, networking, and container orchestration (AKS, Docker, or Kubernetes).\nFamiliarity with event streaming and messaging platforms (e.g., Azure Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ).\nExperience implementing monitoring and observability solutions (Datadog, Azure Monitor, Application Insights).\nKnowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex topics clearly.\nWhy Advantive?\nCulture of Growth: We don’t hire to fill seats—we hire to develop talent.
