So if you have a burning desire for self-improvement, a willful embrace for change, and a natural capability for the skills required, please submit your application.General Summary Of PositionThe Carpenter Panel Installer exists to install a variety of Light Gauge Metal Wall Panels including load bearing light gauge metal wall panels, curtainwall light gauge metal wall panels; structural steel and other products offered as add-ons to Klover Wall Panel Systems. This position must be familiar with the tools of the trade and can read, follow, and understand blueprints, drawings, and work orders.Essential (Core Competencies) DutiesAccurately measure and read height, width, length, and other proportions with a tape measureAssist foreman with proper layout for work to be put in placeFabricate or alter parts using grinders, sawzalls, shears, hammers, punches, or drillsJoin materials with PAFs, nails, screws, staples, or adhesivesUse levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers to ensure everything is level and secureCheck work along the way to ensure it meets specification and quality standardsInstall/use rigging and hoisting equipmentInstall wall panel products according to specifications and building codesManeuver units into position for installation, and anchor the unitsWork at heights with several elevated platformsKeep work area clean and productiveAlways exercise the proper use of PPESet up and safely use company equipmentMaintain welding certification through maintenance logs and supervisor observationQualificationsPreferred Education and Experience:Participation in a secondary or post-secondary trade curriculum1+ year experience with panel or structural steel installation1+ year experience with stick welding (optional)Knowledge and understanding of construction safety devices and PPERigging and Signaling experience is a plusCarpentry knowledgeKey Competencies:Self-motivated to grow personally and professionally through on-going education as a result of the rate of change in the position.Conscientious with customers in areas such as meeting customer needs, wants & expectations.Ability to successfully adapt (personally and professionally) to changes in the internal and external environmentAbility to build a relationship with another person or group through effective communication skills (listening, speaking & behaving).Ability to focus on and meet target goals and objectives.Ability to work effectively and productively as a member of a cross-functional teamProactively defining & resolving problems before they become an issue, and identifying & resolving identified problems for optimum resultsAbility to manage one's internal states, impulses and resources.Work EnvironmentPanel installers work indoors and outdoors on many types of construction projects, with varying degrees of exposure to the elements. This may include extreme heat (>85 degrees for longer than one hour of exposure), extreme cold (<32 degrees for longer than one hour of exposure), excessive humidity and noise. Some hazards may be present such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, toxic/caustic chemicals, and slippery/uneven walking surfaces.Physical Requirements ContinuedDue to the physical nature of the position, employee must have full dexterity of their hands and arms. Employee must be able to see objects close and far awayAt times, multiple sounds can be heard as employee is working on job, employee must have the ability to focus on the sound in particular that is associated with the task they are completing. Employees with any sort of hearing impairment would not be considered fit for duty to perform this position.Due to the safety sensitive nature of the position, at all times, employee must be fit for duty and not report to work under the influence of a mind altering or performance altering substance.
