SummaryBalfour Beatty is seeking a Superintendent to join our Special Projects Group (SPG) team in Raleigh. The ideal candidate will be a proven field leader with strong communication and coordination skills, responsible for managing all day-to-day construction activities on-site.The Superintendent leads subcontractors, enforces safety and quality standards, maintains the project schedule, and ensures all work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and company policies. This role plays a critical part in achieving project goals through proactive planning, problem-solving, and collaboration, while upholding Balfour Beatty's Zero Harm safety culture and commitment to excellence.Essential FunctionsField Leadership: Manage all field operations and daily site activities; supervise subcontractors, foremen, and field staff to ensure safe, efficient, and quality-driven performance.Safety Management: Establish and lead the site safety team; develop project-specific safety plans, conduct hazard analyses, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager; lead pull planning sessions, identify milestones, and track progress against critical path.Quality Control: Implement and oversee the project's Quality Control program; ensure materials, workmanship, and testing comply with contract specifications and standards.Preconstruction Support: Review drawings, specifications, and budgets for constructability; provide input to estimating teams and preconstruction schedules.Financial Oversight: Monitor labor, equipment, and general conditions budgets; approve subcontractor payment applications and verify cost accuracy.Subcontractor Coordination: Lead weekly coordination meetings, ensure accountability for schedules and performance, and oversee subcontractor orientations and compliance.Site Logistics: Develop and maintain site logistics and temporary facilities plans, including hoisting, access control, and site security.Communication & Reporting: Conduct progress and safety meetings, maintain daily reports, and provide clear communication to all project stakeholders.Closeout & Turnover: Ensure timely completion of punch lists, commissioning activities, and project documentation; manage site demobilization and final inspections.Minimum RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent.8+ years of commercial construction field leadership experience.Prior experience with Interior Uplifts.Strong understanding of structural, MEP, and architectural coordination.Proven ability to manage site operations, safety, and schedules.Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.Proficiency with construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or Primavera P6.Preferred ExperienceBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.Experience managing ground-up, renovation, or adaptive reuse projects.Experience with previous large-scale projects such as airports, K-12 schools, higher education, medical facilities, and/or major earthwork.Demonstrated success leading diverse subcontractor teams.OSHA 30 certification and advanced safety training.
