Candidates must have horse care knowledge and intermediate horsemanship skills. The position requires that the Candidate supports the centers mission to create a therapeutic and supportive environment to meet the unique needs of the students we serve. As part of a large Community Agency, candidate must commit to annual trainings offered through RFK Community Alliance and the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship Intl.Responsibilities/DutiesContribute to the overall health of the horses and small farm animalsConduct morning and/or evening feeding of horses and small farm animals Turn in/out horsesProvide minor medical care to horses and small animals as requiredCleaning and maintaining stall, paddock and small animal habitatsAssist with veterinary and equine professional visitsAssist with maintaining the facilities and grounds to ensure a clean and safe environmentMaintain aisle ways, tack room, offices and storage areas to free from debris, dust and trashReceive and stack barn supplies such as grain, supplements, tack and horse maintenance itemsAssist the riding instructor with grooming and tacking horses as needed for horsemanship lessonsProvide lesson support to the riding instructor as a leader or side-walkerAssist with the conditioning of horsesQualifications/Key Skills3-5 years' experience working at a fully operational riding and/or boarding facilityEquine first aidIntermediate horsemanship skillsExperience working with and caring for small farm animals is a plusRequires stamina and strength to manage daily physical chores and dutiesDetailed oriented with strong organizational skillsCapable of working and caring for the herd and small animals independentlyEmbodies a strong work ethic, be a flexible thinker, presents in a welcoming and professional mannerRequires strength and stamina to work in inclement weather and lift 50plus poundsRequires compassion to work in a program that serves children and adults with special needs.Available Shifts:Position 1 (25 hours)Sunday 8AM-2PM, Monday-Tuesday 3-8:30PM, Wednesday 12-8PMPosition 2 (30 hours)Wednesday 8AM-2PM, Thursday 2:30-8:30PM, Friday-Saturday 8AM-5PMWho We AreThe RFK Community Alliance Child Development Center is aNAEYC-accreditedprogram serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
