LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing construction company in El Cajon, CA to identify an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their accounting team. This is a hands-on, full-cycle accounts payable role supporting project-based accounting in a fast-paced construction environment, with strong opportunity for long-term growth and advancement.The ideal candidate brings construction AP experience, strong Excel skills, and comfort working with job-costed invoices, project managers, and sales/use tax requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice intake, review, coding, approval routing, and payment processingProcess high-volume job-costed invoices, including subcontractor, materials, and overhead expensesHandle both P.O. and non-P.O. invoices, partnering with Project Managers to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate job codingMaintain vendor records, including onboarding, updates, and ongoing vendor communicationPerform vendor statement reconciliations and AP account reconciliations, researching and resolving variancesMonitor and manage AP aging, ensuring timely payments and proactive issue resolutionAssist with month-end close, including AP accruals, cutoff procedures, and supporting schedulesReview invoices for sales and use tax applicability, ensuring proper tax treatment and complianceSupport audits, special projects, and process improvement initiativesCollaborate cross-functionally with accounting, operations, and project teams to improve AP workflows and controlsQualifications2+ years of experience in a full-cycle accounts payable role, preferably within construction or a project-based environmentExperience processing job-costed invoices and working closely with Project ManagersSolid understanding of sales and use tax in a construction settingExperience with construction accounting systems such as Procore, Viewpoint Vista, or similar platformsStrong Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs (or XLOOKUP)Experience with accounting/ERP systems and AP automation toolsStrong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple prioritiesClear communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindsetWhy This OpportunityJoin a growing construction company with a stable project pipelinePositive, team-oriented culture with opportunity for advancementHands-on exposure to job costing, sales tax, and month-end closeLong-term career potential within the accounting functionPay Details: $30.00 per hourSearch managed by: Erin Kile Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
