In this role, you will develop reliable, scalable data platforms that integrate time-series and relational databases to enable high-throughput, low-latency applications supporting mission-critical operations.\nKey Duties:\nDesign and evolve database architectures supporting large-scale backend systems.\nModel and manage data across relational and time-series databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, TimescaleDB, InfluxDB, and Prometheus.\nOptimize database schemas, indexing, partitioning, retention policies, and query performance.\nDesign and maintain solutions for high availability, replication, sharding, and disaster recovery.\nDevelop and support backend services that process high-volume transactional and time-series data.\nDefine and implement data lifecycle strategies including retention, archival, and aggregation.\nCollaborate with engineering teams on API design and data contracts.\nMonitor database health, performance, and capacity, and resolve production issues.\nEnsure data integrity, security, and compliance across all data systems.\nContribute to technical documentation and architectural decisions.\n\nRequired Skills, Experience, and Education:\nDue to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible for consideration at this time.\nAbility to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.\n5 or more years of related experience.\nStrong experience as a backend engineer supporting large-scale production systems.\nStrong understanding of relational database design, including normalization and denormalization tradeoffs.\nHands-on experience with time-series databases and high-ingestion workloads.\nSolid knowledge of SQL and query optimization techniques.\nExperience designing schemas for both operational and analytical workloads.\nExperience with observability tools and operational monitoring practices.\nUnderstanding of distributed systems concepts, including consistency, replication, and CAP tradeoffs.\nProficiency in at least one backend programming language such as C++, Go, or Python.\nExperience operating databases in production environments, including migrations and upgrades.\nBachelor's degree in a related technical discipline.\nDesired Skills, Experience, and Education:\nExperience working with hybrid architectures that combine OLTP and time-series data.\nKnowledge of event-driven systems, streaming platforms, or metrics pipelines.\nExperience with cloud-managed database platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.\nFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools.\nUnderstanding of data compliance, auditing, and access control practices.\nExperience supporting systems at scale, including environments with millions of users or devices.\nExperience with additional languages such as Rust or JavaScript.\nBusiness Profile:\nCimarron is a global solutions company with a strategic partnering approach to satisfying customer-driven requirements.
