BlueScope Recycling buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service.\nSummary: As a Crane Operator I, you will operate industrial cranes and other equipment to move materials, supplies, and finished products within our facility. Your role is crucial in ensuring the efficient flow of materials and maintaining a safe working environment.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nOperate a grapple or mag crane to load, unload, and move scrap materials within the yard.\nOperate a shear crane to cut material down in size and look for hidden hazards.\nPerform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on crane equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.\nAdhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures while handling materials and operating crane machinery.\nTransport scrap materials from storage areas, trucks, or other locations to designated processing or storage areas using crane equipment.\nHandle materials carefully to prevent damage and ensure proper positioning and stacking.\nAssist in sorting and organizing scrap materials according to type, size, and processing requirements.\nFollow work orders and instructions to prioritize and complete material handling tasks efficiently.\nMonitor material flows and communicate with supervisors or team members to optimize operational processes.\nMaintain accurate records of material movements and inventory levels as required.\nMaintain a clean and organized work area, including storage and crane equipment.\nComply with environmental regulations and company policies related to scrap material handling and disposal.\nReport any safety hazards, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to supervisory staff immediately.\nMaintain a clean and organized work area, including storage and crane equipment.\nComply with environmental regulations and company policies related to scrap material handling and disposal.\nReport any safety hazards, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to supervisory staff immediately.\nRequired Qualifications:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent\nAbility to earn BlueScope Recycling’s crane certification\nKnowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to crane operation and material handling.\nAbility to interpret work orders, follow instructions, and prioritize tasks effectively.\nPhysical stamina and strength to lift and maneuver heavy materials and operate crane controls for extended periods.\nAttention to detail and accuracy in recording data and maintaining inventory records.\nWilling to work overtime and weekends when necessary\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy objects regularly.\nComfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.\nProficiency in operating crane controls and handling materials with precision and care.\nQuantitative Scope:\nNo budget responsibility\nNo direct/indirect reports\nWork authorization:\nNo sponsorship available\nAdditional Information\nThe preceding job responsibilities and tasks were designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by associates in this job.
