Reading Teacher (Elementary)
Position Title: Reading TeacherReports To: Campus Principal and Executive Director of Teaching and LearningContracted Days: 190Salary: TeacherObjective of the Reading Teacher:The Reading Teacher will work directly with students to accelerate reading growth by providing targeted, evidence-based intervention in phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension. This position involves direct small-group instruction, intensive progress monitoring, and collaboration with classroom teachers to accelerate student learning and strengthen the overall intervention program. Position objectives include: goal setting, instructional planning and delivery; and progress monitoring student growth using evidence-based practices. This position will serve students across two elementary campuses.Direct Student Services ResponsibilitiesProvide support for Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions within the Response to Intervention frameworkAssess students' reading abilities and identifying areas for improvementCollaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement individualized reading plansProvide one-on-one or small group reading instruction using an approved district literacy programTrack and reporting on student progressConduct regular assessments to evaluate reading progress Case Management Responsibilities Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement individualized reading plansMaintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, intervention strategies, and at-home reading supportMaintain accurate, up-to-date data on student progress and attendance in intervention programs Qualifications and Experience:Arkansas-licensed teacher, reading specialist or endorsement preferredExperience in teaching reading at various grade levelsAbility to manage the expectations of both building and district leadershipAn understanding of effective instructional practices for the Science of ReadingEvidence of professionalism and leadership skills, including effective communication skills, building trust and rapport with a variety of teachersAbility to manage compliance for referral process and intervention trackingAbility to utilize technology in the areas of instructional delivery and workflow productivityAbility to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and administratorsPHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.
