You will be part of a highly skilled team that tests all lasers for the Cymer Light Source division. Our DUV light source consists of an intricate network of process gases, optics, electronics, high‑power electrical, metrology and control systems. In this hands‑on position you will have the opportunity to work with all of these components and become a system expert. You will be the key to delivering a quality product through testing, issue identification and resolution, and finding potential improvements.\n\nDuties & Responsibilities\n\nTests laser systems and validates manufacturing processes.\n\nPerforms functional tests, optical alignment, equipment calibration, station setup.\n\nRecommends changes in design, methods, and procedures to enhance product quality.\n\nSolves problems through troubleshooting and leveraging available resources.\n\nUses standardized tools and electronic equipment (i.e., torque wrenches, electric and pneumatic screwdrivers and ball drivers, lifting equipment, computers, oscilloscopes) to assemble/install/remove or perform testing and troubleshooting.\n\nTrains others on areas of test processes and troubleshooting when required.\n\nPerforms a variety of moderately complex technical service/support duties requiring specialized knowledge (i.e., sub-assembly, assembly, build, test, R&D, QA).\n\nUtilizes functional area databases to run reports and analyze/trend data; makes recommendations to management in order to meet production needs.\n\nInterfaces with design engineers to support special tests and experiments with detailed instructions.\n\nDocuments and monitors parameters critical to product quality or operations.\n\nUses specialized test equipment such as leak testing, Hi‑Pot and alignment instruments.\n\nPressurizes gas and water systems with helium and troubleshoots failures.\n\nReads and understands business documents such as Bills of Material, routing sheets, inventory records and work instructions.\n\nMaintains a clean work area, and is responsible for designated tools (routine maintenance and calibration).\n\nInstalls electrical connectors to modules.\n\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\n\nWorking hours:\n\n1st shift 0600‑1430\n\n2nd shift 1400‑2230\n\nEducation\n\nBachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics desired.\n\nA minimum of two (2) years of related work experience preferred.\n\nStrong engineering, technical, and physics fundamentals.\n\nExperience working with precision optical components is desirable.\n\nSkills & Competencies\n\nAbility to read and interpret schematics/drawings.\n\nAbility to translate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats.\n\nStrong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.\n\nAble to use electric/pneumatic tools.\n\nAbility to troubleshoot, identify and correct problems in complex software‑driven electronic systems (not circuit‑board troubleshooting).\n\nFull to advanced proficiency with a wide variety of tools and equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, voltage and current probes, multi‑meters, and helium sniffers).\n\nExperience with electro‑optical and/or opto‑mechanical systems as well as environmental testing is desired.\n\nExperience with Automated Testing Equipment, LabVIEW preferred.\n\nAbility to perform in‑process quality inspections of components and/or full assemblies within the Manufacturing area(s).\n\nKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles preferred.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nRequires general computer skills and knowledge.\n\nCan learn and apply new information or skills.\n\nCan work under deadlines.\n\nOther Information\nThis position is located on‑site in San Diego, CA.
