The role\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Structured Cabling Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of structured cabling and physical network infrastructure for hyperscale and enterprise data center environments.\nThis remote position will be responsible for developing scalable, standards-compliant fiber and copper cabling designs from concept through construction and deployment. The engineer will work closely with data center design, network engineering, construction, operations, vendors, and deployment teams to ensure cabling infrastructure meets capacity, reliability, maintainability, and future-growth requirements.\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDevelop end-to-end structured cabling designs for new-build, expansion, retrofit, and capacity-add data center projects.\nDesign fiber-optic and copper cabling systems supporting data center network, compute, storage, management, security, and building infrastructure.\nDevelop MDF, IDF, MMR, network room, meet-me-room, and data hall connectivity designs.\nCreate fiber backbone, horizontal cabling, interconnect, cross-connect, and equipment connectivity architectures.\nDevelop single-line diagrams, cabling schematics, rack elevations, patching diagrams, pathway layouts, fiber routing plans, and connectivity schedules.\nDetermine fiber counts, cable types, connector types, patch-panel requirements, termination methods, and pathway capacity.\nDesign solutions using single-mode and multimode fiber, including high-density fiber connectivity and MPO/MTP-based systems where applicable.\nSpecify Category 6/6A copper infrastructure and associated patching systems.\nPerform cable pathway, tray, conduit, ladder rack, and containment capacity calculations.\nCoordinate structured cabling requirements with network architecture, electrical, mechanical, architectural, security, and construction disciplines.\nReview construction drawings, BIM/CAD models, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and vendor proposals.\nDevelop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support material forecasting and procurement.\nCreate and maintain cabling standards, design guidelines, naming conventions, labeling requirements, and installation specifications.\nEnsure designs comply with applicable TIA, BICSI, IEEE, NEC/NFPA, ISO/IEC, and manufacturer standards.\nSupport data center capacity planning and determine future fiber, copper, rack, and pathway requirements.\nReview contractor installation packages and ensure field implementation aligns with approved designs.\nSupport fiber testing, copper certification, commissioning, punch-list resolution, and project closeout.\nReview OTDR, insertion-loss, and certification test results where applicable.\nParticipate remotely in design reviews, construction coordination meetings, and technical troubleshooting.\nConduct occasional site surveys and field inspections when required.\nIdentify design risks, constructability issues, capacity constraints, and opportunities for standardization.\nMaintain accurate as-built documentation, cable schedules, port assignments, rack elevations, and connectivity records.\nWork across multiple concurrent data center projects while maintaining design quality and schedule commitments.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n5+ years of experience designing structured cabling, telecommunications, network physical infrastructure, or data center infrastructure.\nStrong experience with mission-critical or data center environments.\nDemonstrated knowledge of fiber-optic infrastructure, including single-mode and multimode fiber.\n\n Benefits & Perks:\n\nCompetitive compensation\nCareer growth and learning opportunities\nFlexibility and ownership\nCollaborative and innovative culture\nOpportunity to work on impactful AI projects\nInternational environment and talented teams\n\nWhat's it like to work at Nebius:\nFast moving - Bold thinking - Constant growth - Meaningful impact - Trust and real ownership - Opportunity to shape the future of AI \nEqual Opportunity Statement:\nNebius is an equal opportunity employer.
