In this role, you will drive the modernization of legacy ePresentment and ETools platforms into scalable, cloud-ready CMOD capabilities and intuitive portal experiences. You will design and deliver full stack solutions that power high-volume, business-critical systems, collaborating closely with engineers, architects, product owners, and UX partners to solve complex technical challenges and deliver measurable outcomes.You will play a key leadership role in shaping engineering practices, guiding design decisions, leading code reviews, mentoring team members, and establishing high standards for quality and performance. Leveraging modern development approaches including DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, and AI-assisted workflows, you will optimize development velocity while maintaining stability and security. Your work will directly influence system scalability, reliability, and user experience, while enabling your team to adapt quickly to evolving business needs and deliver meaningful value to clients.Demonstrated exposure to, or hands-on experience with, GenAI coding assistants used across day-to-day engineering workflows in the SDLC—implementation, refactoring, unit testing, regression support, code reviews, scripting/automation, troubleshooting, and documentation—while applying engineering judgment and validation. Practical familiarity with tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code is expected.This is an opportunity to apply deep technical expertise while continuously expanding your skills in modern engineering practices, including agentic development, cloud-native architectures, and AI-assisted software delivery, all within a highly collaborative and outcomes-driven environment.What you haveWhat You HaveRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience5+ years of experience in enterprise software development with strong full stack expertiseExperience leveraging AI and automation in development workflowsAdvanced proficiency in Java development, Python scripting, and Bash/Shell scripting in Linux environments4+ years of experience building single-page applications using Angular (v14+)Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs using Spring BootExperience deploying applications on WebSphere Liberty/Open LibertyStrong experience in Linux environments (RHEL preferred)Experience with enterprise-scale storage solutions and document systemsExperience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Bitbucket, or BambooExperience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)Knowledge of agentic workflows and prompt engineeringStrong problem-solving skills in agile environmentsUses AI assistance for common dev tasks (code suggestions, test generation, review support, automation scripts, troubleshooting) with clear ownership for correctness and quality.Applies GenAI in ways that reduce context switching and accelerate delivery across typical workflows (not limited to writing new code)Demonstrates practical familiarity with GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code within IDE/CLI-style workflows.Working knowledge of agentic workflows, spec-driven development (translating low-level design artifacts such as class structures, API contracts, and data models into structured specs that guide AI-assisted implementation), and custom instructions and prompt engineering, with the ability to establish team-level practices for effective AI-assisted developmentPreferred Qualifications7+ years of experience in enterprise full stack engineeringExperience leading development teams and mentoring engineersStrong analytical and prioritization skillsExperience collaborating across product, UX, and business teamsStrong communication and influencing skillsExperience driving quality, performance, and continuous improvement initiativesExperience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworksAbility to anticipate risks and adapt in fast-paced environmentsWhat’s in it for youAt Schwab, you’re empowered to shape your future.
