Customer Service Supervisor

Summary: To provide direct assistance and direction to the Customer Service department. This is to include training, assigning tasks, reviewing checklists, participating in service meetings and all other duties needed to supervise the Customer Service department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 1. Review the nightly turnover to assign and follow up with Customer Service open items. 2. Participate in the daily 0900 and 1430 capacity meetings. 3. Track, post and communicate service results to Management. 4. Understand and monitor committed customer lanes and volumes. 5. Provide EDI acceptance and rejection guidance. 6. Visit current and/or potential customers - travel required. 7. Identify opportunities to update or improve customer service procedures. 8. Assist in the training of new hires. 9. Direct any urgent or sensitive issues to the Director of Customer Service. 10. Assist Customer Service with duties when needed. 11. Complete daily checklists and turnover ensuring all work is complete. 12. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma required, associate degree preferred and one to two years of related customer service experience. Language Skills Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of geographical areas across the United States. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of AS400 Innovative Transportation software to process orders and enter data, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and QuickBooks. Work Environment Professional atmosphere that will be stressful at times with high inbound call volumes requiring the ability to multi-task. Overnight travel and weekend work may be required.
