Accounting Technician - State Funds Payable

Perform a variety of diversified duties as the Accounting Technician in accordance with established procedures; coordinate all aspects of accounts payable; assist the Vice President of Finance as directed; and assist in other Business Office activities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Job FunctionsStamp, audit, verify, code and match purchase orders/requisitions with invoices daily to determine mathematical accuracy and compliance with applicable laws prior to submission for payment; research, audit and reconcile vendor statements for accuracy and correctness to include communicating with vendors in making corrections and/or payments/credits.Process invoices for payment from state budget to include curriculum and contractual services and maintain accounts payable records for audit and tax purposes.Track and maintain documentation of contractual security officers’ daily activity records for payment.Update budget and general journal entries in Colleague system and route to staff for fiscal year files.Assist with coordinating the work schedule for personnel for relief of the receptionist.Prepare the transfer of funds between Short-Term Investment Fund (STIF) to private financial institution account, as needed.Upload to NCCCS the daily Certification of State Deposit and maintain daily log for reconciliation to the Report of Receipts and Deposits Refund of Expenditures.Prepare and process monthly reports as required by NC Community College System Office and other reports, as needed.Handle financial services for mailing via USPS and third-party providers on both campuses. Assist with preparation of 1099 tax forms and year-end reporting. Perform duties for Accounts Payable and other duties as directed by the Controller.Assist with all registration duties as needed.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.DisclaimerThe above statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
