This role involves planning network installations, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring optimal performance and reliability of the fiber optic infrastructure. The engineer will work closely with other network professionals, project managers, and external vendors to deliver high-quality telecommunication services.\nNetwork Design and Planning:\nDesign and develop fiber optic network layouts and schematics.\nConduct site surveys and feasibility studies for new network installations.\nCreate detailed network design documents, including fiber routes, splice plans, and equipment specifications.\nInstallation and Implementation:\nOversee the installation of fiber optic cables, including underground and aerial installations.\nCoordinate with contractors and field technicians to ensure proper installation and adherence to industry standards.\nConfigure and install network equipment such as switches, routers, and optical transceivers.\nMaintenance and Troubleshooting:\nPerform regular maintenance and inspections of fiber optic networks to ensure optimal performance.\nTroubleshoot and resolve network issues, including signal loss, connectivity problems, and equipment failures.\nConduct fiber optic testing using OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) and other diagnostic tools.\nDocumentation and Reporting:\nMaintain accurate records of network installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.\nPrepare and submit detailed reports on network performance, issues, and resolutions.\nUpdate network diagrams and documentation as changes are made.\nCollaboration and Communication:\nWork closely with network architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.\nCommunicate effectively with team members, contractors, and clients to provide updates and resolve issues.\nProvide technical support and training to field technicians and other team members.\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.\nExperience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fiber optic network engineering or a similar role.\nCertifications: Relevant certifications such as CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) or FOA (Fiber Optic Association) certification are preferred.\nSkills:\nStrong understanding of fiber optic technology and network design principles.\nProficiency in using network design software and diagnostic tools.\nExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nWorking Conditions:\nAbility to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.\nWillingness to work in various environments, including outdoor and confined spaces.\nAvailability to work flexible hours.\nMay require occasional evening or weekend work to perform maintenance or resolve critical issues.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.\nThis position may require occasional travel to project sites and client locations.\nBenefits:\nCompetitive salary and benefits package.\nOpportunities for professional development and growth.\nSupportive and collaborative work environment.\nZoom Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
