The MandateAreté Ventures Group has been retained to appoint a Managing Director to lead a strategically critical U.S. operation within a global organisation operating in a highly regulated, high-hazard environment.This is a role of substance and consequence. The successful candidate will assume full leadership accountability for site operations, with particular emphasis on safety, regulatory stewardship, operational integrity, and organisational performance.The context is a highly regulated operating environment, requiring disciplined execution, mature judgement, and credible engagement with external authorities and stakeholders.The RoleThe Managing Director will:Hold end-to-end accountability for site leadership, ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and regulatory complianceServe as the principal interface with U.S. regulators and key external stakeholders, establishing trust, transparency, and credibilityLead a large, multi-disciplinary organisation, shaping a culture defined by accountability, operational discipline, and continuous improvementDeliver consistent, reliable operational performance aligned to production and organisational objectivesOversee the safe execution of significant capital programmes, balancing operational continuity with long-term investment deliveryStrengthen governance, systems, and performance management to sustain operational excellenceRepresent the organisation at industry, governmental, and community levelsThe IndividualWe are interested in leaders with deep operational credibility in high-hazard, regulated environments, who combine technical understanding with enterprise level leadership capability.Relevant experience is likely to include:Leadership of complex, safety-critical industrial operations within regulated sectors (e.g. energy, process industries, defence, or analogous environments)Direct experience engaging with regulatory bodies, operating with accountability in highly scrutinised contextsPrior roles such as Site Director, Plant Manager, or equivalent senior operational leadership positionsA track record of leading large-scale operational organisations, including senior leadership teamsStrong grounding in safety culture, compliance frameworks, and risk management disciplinesExposure to major capital programmes, infrastructure investment, or international operating models would be advantageous.Leadership ProfileThe role requires a leader who is:Uncompromising on safety and standardsJudicious, credible, and calm under pressureCapable of operating effectively at the intersection of operational detail and strategic oversightA trusted counterpart to regulators, executives, and external stakeholdersCommitted to building high-performing, accountable organisationsContextThis is a high-visibility leadership role within a strategically important asset, with direct relevance to national infrastructure and long-term industrial capability.It offers the opportunity to shape operational performance, organisational culture, and future readiness in a complex and demanding environment.ProcessAreté Ventures Group is leading this search on a strictly confidential basis.Initial conversations will be conducted with discretion.
