Evaluates and implements changes to existing products. Investigates and resolves issues involving design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of electronic circuits and components.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)\nAssists in designing electronic circuits and creates firmware for keyboard products, input devices, and/or ODM products.\nAssists in building and debugging prototypes.\nAssists in developing quality control specifications and standards for product manufacturing decisions.\nUses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.\nPerforms purchasing interface; obtains samples/quotes of electrical and mechanical components.\nWorks with design engineers to find common or unique components for design applications.\nWorks with suppliers, customers, receiving inspection, and engineers reviewing component, product and test specifications.\nAide in training engineering specialist and engineering interns as needed.\nOTHER FUNCTIONS\nMay be assigned other duties that will directly or indirectly support the Engineering and/or Operations department.\nSUPERVISION GIVEN/RECEIVED\nIs supervised by the Engineering Manager.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and previous experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nMinimum of two years experience of electronics manufacturing and process engineering\nAbility to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.\nAbility to write routine reports and correspondence.\nAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.\nAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.\nAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.\nAbility to operate a computer use spreadsheet, database, word processing, and assembly language programming software.\nAbility to design circuits, and create firmware for embedded processors.\nAbility to use EECAD Systems.\nThis position requires broad knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and electromechanical assemblies, and the ability to effectively interface with all other departments within the company\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nElectronic hardware and/or software design experience desired but not required\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
