The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating various heavy machinery. This role requires a strong focus on leadership, safety, precision, and reliability to ensure smooth operations.Minimum Qualifications:Required:HS Diploma or GED equivalentTwo years experience in heavy equipment operations in all types of road maintenanceValid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License is required at the time of interview. Tanker endorsement will be required within 180 days of employmentSpecialized training and licensing upon hire requiredPosition Description:Under general supervision, leads a field crew operating specialized trucks and heavy motorized equipment in support of street, roadway, and infrastructure maintenance within the Streets Division of the Public Works Department.Essential Functions:Coordinates the activities of a work crew repairing and maintaining streets, roadways, and infrastructure; estimates materials required for assignments, stages, materials and equipment, assigns work and operates specialized trucks and heavy motorized equipment; duties may vary according to job assignment.Inspects vehicles, equipment and tools; repairs, maintains and adjusts equipment; maintains daily work logs; trains work crew and controls work projects to assure that safety rules and regulations are followed; established the work zone and enforces compliance with all safety regulations and PWD procedures; recognizes, avoids and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries.Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with resident, visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work related issues and City information.May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City wide emergency.Performs other related duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standards.Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.Lives the City of Waco Values: equity & inclusion, excellence & innovation, integrity, people, and teamwork.
