Medical AssistantDepartment/Location: Urgent Care - 1651 E. 29th St., MuncieReports To: Urgent Care Clinical Coordinator and Practice ManagerClassification: Non-Exempt | Full TimeRequires: Medical assistant certification or at least one year work experience in healthcareSchedule: 2 - 12 hour shifts and 2 - 8 hour shifts, holidays and weekends are requiredOpen Door Health Services is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant at our Urgent Care location in Muncie, Indiana.OverviewAs an Open Door Medical Assistant, you will be part of a supportive, interdisciplinary team providing high-quality, compassionate care to individuals and families. Medical assistants perform a variety of patient care activities to support and assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and other medical staff. No clinical experience is necessary if you are certified by an accredited medical assistant program.As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Open Door Health Services provides comprehensive primary, urgent, preventive, and select specialty services and social support programs for individuals and families, regardless of their ability to pay. Our patients represent diverse backgrounds, life experiences, capacities, and orientations.LocationThis position is located at 1651 E. 29th St. in Muncie.Roles & ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:Prepare the patient for the provider by getting vital signs and the patient’s primary complaint. You may also conduct additional testing and screenings (ex. UA dipstick, glucose reading, pregnancy testing, vision and hearing)Brief provider on patient’s data and status Administer prescribed medications, immunizations and treatments as orderedAssist in screening telephone calls for referrals, lab results and prescription refillsPerform quality checks and sterilize, clean, and stock exam roomsSuccessful candidates will:Demonstrate a commitment to ethical, inclusive, and patient-centered careExhibit Open Door values: Esteeming the Team, Maximizing Potential, Doing the Right Thing, Choosing Compassion, and Encouraging UniquenessBe able to react calmly in emergency situationsBe able to read, understand, and follow detailed written and oral communicationBe able to learn to use and update electronic health records and other online systemsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent.
