Title : Lead Software Engineer (GraphQL, Java, AWS)Location : Rockville, MD or McLean, VATarget Start Date : ASAPType : contractPay Rate : DOEThe Lead Software Engineer will lead the integration of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products with enterprise technology infrastructure to support an investigations organization. This role focuses on technical integration architecture, GraphQL API development, and ensuring seamless connectivity between external platforms and internal systems.Key ResponsibilitiesGraphQL API Development- Design, develop, and maintain GraphQL APIs to enable efficient data exchange between COTS platforms and internal systems.Integration Architecture- Architect scalable integration solutions that connect external products with internal databases, applications, and services.Systems Connectivity- Build and maintain middleware, integration layers, and data pipelines to ensure reliable system-to-system communication.Vendor Technical Collaboration- Work with COTS vendors on technical integration requirements, API specifications, and troubleshooting.Data Integration- Implement data mapping, transformation, and synchronization processes while maintaining data integrity and security standards.Technical Leadership- Mentor engineers on integration patterns and GraphQL best practices, and guide technical decisions for the investigations technology stack.Performance and Reliability- Ensure integration solutions meet performance, scalability, and reliability requirements.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years focused on enterprise system integrationStrong expertise in GraphQL, including schema design, query optimization, resolver implementation, and federation patternsProficiency in Java and PythonExperience with REST APIs, authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML), and API gateway technologiesStrong understanding of Oracle and SQL Server databasesExperience with AWS cloud services and containerizationKnowledge of CI/CD practices and DevOps principlesPreferred QualificationsExperience with GraphQL federation and federated architecture implementationsBackground integrating case management, analytics, or enterprise software platformsExperience with message brokers and event-driven architecturesUnderstanding of security best practices for API integration in regulated environmentsSkills and CompetenciesAPI Design Excellence - Deep understanding of GraphQL schema design, query performance, and API versioning strategies.Integration Architecture - Ability to design and implement robust, scalable integration solutions.Technical Problem-Solving - Strong troubleshooting skills for complex integration challenges.Vendor Collaboration - Effective technical communication with external vendors and internal stakeholders.Documentation - Clear technical documentation for APIs, integration architectures, and system interfaces.Quality Focus -Commitment to code quality, testing, and monitoring best practices.Key TechnologiesGraphQL (Apollo Server/Client, GraphQL Federation)Programming Languages: Java, PythonDatabases: DocumentDB, MongoDBCloud Platform: AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, S3, RDS)Integration and Messaging: Cloud-based integration services and event patternsContainerization: Docker and container orchestrationDevOps: CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and loggingWelcome to ConsultNet, a premier national provider of technology talent and solutions.
