This role offers hands‑on experience supporting project managers and superintendents in all phases of construction project delivery on diverse commercial, institutional, and other projects throughout the Chicago area.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nProject Administration & Documentation\n\nManage and coordinate all submittal processes in accordance with project schedules and specifications\n\nMaintain comprehensive project documentation including RFIs, change orders, ASIs, and meeting minutes\n\nReview and distribute project drawings, specifications, and updates to all stakeholders\n\nGenerate and manage punch lists to ensure quality standards are met\n\nAssist with project budgeting and preliminary cost estimates\n\nPerform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed estimates\n\nSolicit and evaluate bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers\n\nReview and verify subcontractor extra work orders for quantities and unit pricing\n\nScheduling & Coordination\n\nDevelop, maintain, and update project schedules using construction management software\n\nMonitor project progress and identify potential scheduling conflicts\n\nCoordinate construction materials and equipment delivery to maintain project timelines\n\nTechnical & Field Support\n\nResearch and resolve drawing interpretations, conflicts, and interferences\n\nConduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and quality\n\nEnsure jobsite safety protocols and accident prevention measures are maintained\n\nCollaborate with superintendents, project managers, clients, subcontractors, and vendors\n\nQualifications\nRequired:\n\nBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and 1-4 years of construction-related experience\n\nStrong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building materials\n\nProficiency with construction management software (Procore, Primavera, or similar)\n\nExcellent organizational and communication skills\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite\n\nPreferred:\n\nPrevious construction internship or co‑op experience\n\nFamiliarity with Chicago building codes and regulations\n\nExperience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar technical software\n\nOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification\n\nWhat We Offer\nCompensation\n\nCompetitive salary (commensurate with experience)\n\nAnnual discretionary performance bonus\n\nComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance\n\n401(k) retirement plan with company match & annual profit sharing\n\nPaid time off and holidays\n\nProfessional development and mentorship opportunities\n\nCollaborative, family-oriented work environment\n\nPowers & Sons Construction is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
