{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"0b569f5bcc24a1ce668d1be8","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/0b569f5bcc24a1ce668d1be8","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/0b569f5bcc24a1ce668d1be8","title":"Mechanical Engineer-Project Engineer","description":"Position Summary\nWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to support aerospace and industrial construction projects at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB).\nThis role will function as a Project Engineer on an existing construction project, providing mechanical engineering support on on-going construction, commissioning, and project closeout for critical aerospace infrastructure.\nWorking closely with the Project Manager and technical engineering team to provide a link between operational management, schedule, tracking, and construction teams to ensure accurate tracking of progress, KPIs, and deliverables to meet an aggressive schedule and client needs.\nThe position requires strong technical skills, field engineering capability, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, mission-focused government and aerospace environment.\nWork Location & Environment\nPrimary work location is Vandenberg Space Force Base, California\nPosition requires full-time on-base presence and access to active construction and aerospace operations areas\nCombination of field office-based engineering work and field construction support\nIndustrial construction sites requiring PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols\nMust be able to obtain and maintain base access credentials\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering\n3–5 years of relevant experience in project engineering, construction engineering, or mechanical design roles\nExperience supporting industrial, manufacturing, or aerospace-related construction projects\nWorking knowledge of:\nHVAC and building mechanical systems\nProcess piping and mechanical equipment\nConstruction means and methods\nAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications\nProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project)\nStrong communication and organizational skills\nAbility to work effectively in both office and field environments\nPreferred Qualifications\nFundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required\nPrior experience working on Department of Defense or aerospace facility projects\nFamiliarity with ASME, ANSI, NFPA, UFC, and other government/aerospace standards\nExperience with cryogenics, propellant systems, launch pad utilities\nExperience with AutoCAD, Revit, or other engineering design software\nCommissioning and startup experience for mechanical systems\nOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification\nDesign-build or EPC project delivery experience\n\nAt JP Donovan Construction, each project is approached as a joint effort between the client, design and construction teams.
