{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"0b547e6a26a8d2ce05bcfe68","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/0b547e6a26a8d2ce05bcfe68","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/0b547e6a26a8d2ce05bcfe68","title":"Janitor","description":"GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: The Janitor is responsible for performing cleaning services of the offices, corridors, restrooms, laboratory space, storage rooms and buildings, and other support areas at the Great Lakes Toxicology and Ecology division – Duluth laboratory facility.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nClean building floors by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.\nPerform dusting of furniture, window sills, ledges, office equipment, hand rails, etc.\nClean walls, baseboards, doors, fans, vents, clocks, etc.\nClean and disinfect restroom fixtures and surfaces.\nStock consumable supplies in restrooms.\nClean door glass and surrounding windows on entrance doors and interior rooms.\nClean surface areas and floors of stair landings and steps.\nClean lunch and break room appliances, tables, chairs, sinks, and counters.\nCollect trash and recycled items and remove to designated areas.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.\nMinimum of two (2) years of experience as a Janitor or Custodian.\nKnowledge of standard janitorial service methods, practices and techniques used in an industrial or commercial environment, and preferably in a government related environment.\nAbility to operate janitorial equipment and machinery in accordance with government standards.\nMust have a working knowledge and comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.\nMust possess a valid driver's license and driving history must meet company standards throughout employment.\nMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a background check as a condition of employment and to obtain access to federal installations.\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\n\nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time.
