With years of experience among our team members and a commitment to excellence, we have built a reputation for delivering reliable, durable products on time and within budget.\nJob Description:\nThe Process Engineer designs, optimizes, and sustains manufacturing processes for metal-mechanical components and large assemblies, including welded frames, enclosures, and platforms. This role supports equipment, tooling, workflow design, process standardization, and continuous improvement to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign and optimize plant layouts, material flow, and workstation configurations to improve efficiency and safety.\nDesign and validate jigs, fixtures, gauges, assembly tooling, lift assists, and welding templates.\nCreate and maintain routings, manufacturing sequences, and detailed build steps within ERP/MRP systems.\nDevelop, analyze, and optimize manufacturing processes, and equipment for sheet metal fabrication, welding (MIG/TIG/robotic), machining, surface preparation, powder/wet coating and mechanical/electrical assembly\nBuild and maintain PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and standardized work instructions.\nConduct time studies, takt time calculations, line balancing, and capacity analysis to improve throughput.\nImplement error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) solutions and process controls to ensure quality and consistency.\nLead Continuous Improvement events such as Kaizen, 5S, SMED, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).\nPartner closely with NPI Engineering for enclosures, tanks, platforms, and structural components; support the First Article Inspection (FAI) for NPIs.\nCreate and release routings, validate BOMs, define tooling requirements, and develop work instructions for new products.\nRequirements:\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.\n4+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering within a metal-mechanic or enclosure manufacturing environment.\nExperience designing tooling, working with welded assemblies, sheet metal systems, and large enclosure structures.\nProficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks/PDM/AutoCAD).\nKnowledge of process engineering tools: PFMEA, CP, PFD, SOPs, 8D, SPC.\nFamiliarity with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle) and PLM tools.\nSkilled in time studies, takt calculations, and line balancing.\nLean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt preferred).\nPreferred Qualifications:\nStrong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.\nExcellent communication and collaboration across engineering, production, and leadership teams.\nAbility to drive change and lead cross-functional teams.\nOrganized, detail-oriented, and committed to safety.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to stand and walk for extended periods throughout production facilities.\nMust be able to lift 25 pounds as needed.\nFrequent exposure to outdoor elements.\nEqual Opportunity Employer/Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled\nTomball Controls is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
