We’re looking to you to play a critical role in the development and support of leading-edge, industry-defining solar tracker components and more. You will lead our advancements in tracker product vision, innovation, enhancements, and improvements, as you drive our next-generation products and features. Working with multiple levels of management, engineering, and other departments, you will create and select state-of-the-art technologies and products.\nYou will utilize tools such as computer aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA) and design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA) and failure modes and effects analysis (DFMEA). This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours. Some travel will be required.\nKey Job Responsibilities: Be assigned parts and sub-assemblies to lead responses to engineering change requests.\nLead root cause analysis and related test requests and needed redesign to address field failures.\nLead other engineers on programs and projects when needed.\nProvide clear direction to cross-functional teams with uncompromising drive to meet program targets.\nLead system level assigned efforts supporting improvement or modification to installed product.\nRepresent engineering in developing/managing the product road map for assigned product.\nIncorporate increased ‘design for manufacturing’ in existing or new part development.\nReport status of assigned programs at various levels of the organization.\nGenerate all design review records and all required design analysis to support the part design.\nDevelop design record documents in compliance with company requirements.\nCreate Design Requirements Documents (DRD) based on Market Requirements Documents (MRD) created by Product Management.\nCreate plans for component and system tests and interpret results to demonstrate that designs meet requirements.\nProvide mentoring to developing engineers.\nCreate documents and presentations supporting stage gate reviews.\nRead and process engineering documents, including process design guidelines, manufacturing drawings, and engineering best practices guides.\nLead activities to optimize and drive the engineering process for new product development projects, developing operating strategies, plans or procedures.\nCreate design concepts using SolidWorks and analyze them for suitability using DFMA, FMEA, FEA, etc. as appropriate.\nWork with Mechanical Designers to create detailed CAD models and drawings.\nDevelop timelines and cost estimates and appraise management of performance to plan.\nWork with the Quality dept. to develop inspection and test plans for supplier qualification of new components and sub-assemblies.\nAssess reliability, safety, performance, and risk of new designs & methodologies; coordinate and communicate development schedules and compatibility or design issues throughout the team continuously.\nOversee testing and theoretical analysis of products to determine product safety and efficacy.\nTravel to project sites, labs, suppliers, as required.\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.\n10+ years of experience developing mechanical components and systems for new products.\n8+ years of experience performing mechanical engineering hand-calculations\n8+ years design experience designing structural components and hardware, gearing and/or drivetrains.\n8+ years of experience utilizing FEA, DFMA and design for cost in the development of new products.\n5+ years of experience using 3D CAD software.\n5+ years of experience defining design validation tests\n4+ years working in an environment with Stage Gate Product Development Processes.\n2+ years of experience using SolidWorks.\n10+ years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite.\nPreferred qualifications: Ability to effectively work on multiple projects concurrently.\nExcellent communication and team building skills.\nOrganizational and time-management skills.\nExperience in the solar industry.\nDesign and component experience across multiple fabrication methods for steel, aluminum, and polymers.\nAbility to work in a fast paced, smaller company environment.\nAt Array Tech, Inc., we strive to lead with our culture, and believe that our people are a key enabler of our future state.
