Design includes electrical topology of Drive By Wire systems (what parts, where and how to connect them) based on similar systems. This includes harness design and pin mapping (similar to reverse engineering), as well as building and testing wiring harnesses, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electrical wiring where necessary and applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, and electronic and electrical testing. Examples of troubleshooting include analyzing serial bus (i.e. CAN) electrical signals and data.\n\nMay be required to do some: Electronic modules programming, lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems, such as computer equipment, test equipment, and machine tool numerical controls, applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics. Usually work under direction of more senior engineering staff, with little to no supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.\n\nEssential duties and responsibilities\n\nDesigns Electrical System diagrams including harnesses.\n\nWorks closely with other engineers on routing harnesses and placing electronic modules.\n\nPrograms embedded modules (C and logical visual programming language).\n\nAssembles and tests experimental wiring harnesses, electronic modules, and other electrical equipment and components.\n\nTroubleshoots electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations.\n\nDiagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunctions or failures of operational equipment and performs preventive and corrective actions.\n\nWorks from wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion and performs installation.\n\nAdjusts and replaces defective or improperly functioning circuitry and electronics components, using hand tools and soldering iron.\n\nTests electronics units, using standard test equipment, and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment.\n\nPlans, completes, and records periodic electrical testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.\n\nMay perform preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems.\n\nMaintains working knowledge of state-of-the-art tools or software by reading or attending conferences, workshops or other training.\n\nEssential education, work experience & skills\n\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronic engineering or related field. May consider equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\nMin 5 years' experience with electronics systems integration and troubleshooting, test equipment usage including Oscilloscope, multi-meter, protocol analyzers, various power supplies, and some electronic modules programming.\n\nExperience with CAD/Circuit design.\n\nMust be knowledgeable in building and testing harnesses according to IPC/WHMA-A-620.\n\nKnowledge of electronics wire routings.\n\nExperience with basic office software including word processing, spreadsheet, Outlook and calendaring.\n\nMust have some basic mechanical assembly knowledge.\n\nExperience using hand tools is preferred.\n\nMust occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.\n\nRegularly required to sit and use hands to handle or feel and regularly required to walk, stand, and bend in the performance of daily responsibilities.\n\nMust be able to work on and around heavy equipment including the ability to climb on and off large machines.\n\nThe pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $36.98/hour - $57.79/hour.
