Hitt Library at the University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks a collaborative and forward-thinking Scholarly Communication Assistant Librarian to join our Digital Scholarship Department in the Digital Strategies, Impact, & Visibility division. This 12-month, non-tenure track position leads campus efforts to support ethical, inclusive, and open research practices. The successful candidate will bring strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across campus units, along with expertise in scholarly communication areas such as open access publishing, copyright, licensing, and research data management. With a deep commitment to open knowledge infrastructures, they will promote responsible research dissemination and engagement with open publishing platforms and practices.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nProvide consultation and support to students, faculty, and staff on scholarly communication practices for research, teaching, and learning.\r\nAdvocate for open access initiatives and equitable publishing models across campus.\r\nDevelop and deliver workshops, seminars, and training on topics such as open publishing, copyright, data management, and emerging scholarly communication practices.\r\nCreate and maintain educational resources including research guides, videos, and tutorials to support the campus community.\r\nMonitor trends and developments in the field to inform programming, outreach, and strategic initiatives.\r\nMinimum Qualifications\r\nMaster's degree in library and/or information science, or terminal degree in relevant field, from an accredited institution by time of hire.\r\nDemonstrated understanding of scholarly communication, including areas such as open access publishing, copyright, licensing, and research data management.\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\nExperience developing and delivering instruction, training, or outreach to different audiences, including faculty, students, and staff.\r\nExperience leading or contributing to the development and implementation of institutional open access and scholarly communication initiatives.\r\nKnowledge of current trends and issues in open knowledge infrastructures and scholarly communication.\r\nAdditional Application Materials Required\r\nA curriculum vitae.\r\nA letter of interest describing qualifications for the position, such as research agenda and teaching experience/interest.\r\nSpecial Instructions to the Applicants\r\nAssistant Librarian salary starts at $60,000.\r\nApplication review begins on 1/8/2026.\r\nSponsorship for employment-based visas will only be considered under exceptional circumstances and is not guaranteed.
