This role will focus on modernizing a large-scale trading platform by designing and developing microservices, REST APIs, and modern backend architectures using Java and Spring Boot.\nThe ideal candidate will have strong experience working on high-performance, distributed enterprise systems, preferably within trading, capital markets, or financial platforms.\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot\nBuild microservices and RESTful APIs from scratch for enterprise trading and financial systems\nModernize legacy trading platforms and enterprise applications into cloud-ready, service-oriented architectures\nWork on high-throughput, low-latency systems supporting trading workflows and financial transactions\nCollaborate with architects, product owners, and engineering teams to define technical solutions and modernization strategies\nOptimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and security across distributed systems\nParticipate in system design, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support activities\nContribute to CI/CD, DevOps, and automation initiatives supporting enterprise delivery pipelines\nRequired Skills & Qualifications\n\n7–10 years of hands-on Java development experience\nStrong experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring-based microservices architecture\nProven experience developing REST APIs and distributed services from scratch\nEnterprise-level experience within Financial Services, Trading, Banking, or Capital Markets environments\nExperience modernizing legacy enterprise applications or trading platforms\nStrong understanding of scalable system design, multithreading, and distributed systems\nExperience with relational databases and messaging/event-driven architectures\nFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP\nExperience with Kafka or other messaging technologies\nKnowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes\nExposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices\nUnderstanding of trading systems, order management, market data, or financial transaction processing\nNice to Have\n\nExperience working on low-latency or high-frequency trading systems\nExposure to cloud modernization initiatives\nFamiliarity with observability and monitoring tools\nAbout Matlen Silver\n\nExperience Matters.
