{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"0a21dc21971feecb3256d4d7","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/0a21dc21971feecb3256d4d7","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/0a21dc21971feecb3256d4d7","title":"Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) Engineer","description":"Job Description: Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) Engineer\nLocation: IL or NC\nPosition: Contract/ Permanent\nRole Overview\nThe VAVE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering) Engineer will play a critical role in improving product cost, quality, and manufacturability across Client portfolio of ice machines and related systems.\nThis role focuses on systematic cost-reduction, supplier collaboration, product redesign, and process optimization—while maintaining or improving product performance and customer experience.\nKey Responsibilities\nValue Engineering & Cost Optimization\nLead VAVE initiatives across existing product lines to reduce material, manufacturing, and lifecycle costs.\nAnalyze components, assemblies, and systems to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.\nConduct teardown and benchmarking studies of internal and competitor products.\nDevelop business cases for proposed engineering changes, including cost–benefit analysis.\nProduct & Component Redesign\nWork with R&D, design engineering, and manufacturing teams to implement design modifications.\nOptimize part geometry, material selection, and manufacturing methods to achieve cost and performance targets.\nDrive standardization of components and modular design principles.\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nCollaborate closely with procurement, quality, operations, and supplier engineering teams.\nWork with suppliers to evaluate alternative materials, components, and processes.\nSupport supplier qualification and validation activities for new or cost-optimized parts.\nManufacturing & Process Improvements\nAnalyze production processes to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements.\nWork with plant engineering and manufacturing teams to reduce waste, simplify assembly, and enhance overall productivity.\nSupport development of updated work instructions, BOMs, and process documentation.\nData Analysis & Reporting\nTrack VAVE project performance against cost-reduction targets.\nPrepare regular project dashboards, ROI evaluations, and engineering reports.\nMaintain detailed documentation of design changes, testing, and implementation plans.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.\n3–7 years of experience in VAVE, cost engineering, product engineering, or manufacturing engineering—preferably in HVAC, refrigeration, appliances, or electromechanical equipment.\nStrong understanding of sheet metal, plastics, refrigeration systems, electrical components, and mechanical assemblies.\nExperience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD).\nKnowledge of DFMA, DFM/DFA, lean manufacturing, and value engineering methodologies.\nGood understanding of supply chain and sourcing practices.\nStrong analytical skills and ability to build cost models.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in the foodservice equipment, appliance, or refrigeration industry.\nHands-on experience working with suppliers (domestic and international).\nExposure to quality tools such as FMEA, PPAP, APQP, 8D, and root cause analysis.\nKnowledge of UL, NSF, and IEC standards applicable to commercial equipment.\nSoft Skills\nStrong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.\nExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects and deliver against deadlines.\nProactive mindset with a strong drive for continuous improvement.\nJob Types: Full-time, Contract\nPay: $70,000.00 -
