You will be responsible for regular bus maintenance, including vehicle fluid levels, essential maintenance paperwork, safety checklists, reporting damage/malfunctions to the supervisor, and participating in bus safety drills.\nYou will ensure internal and external vehicular cleanliness, recordkeeping, damage/malfunction reporting, safety equipment/seat belt maintenance, bus entry/exit monitoring, educational/social interaction with children, and communication with parents/families as needed. Additional responsibilities may include acting as a custodian, kitchen aide, and disability aide, and supporting program operations as necessary.\nAs a frontline representative of Save the Children, you will be required to ensure the safety and security of children and families and represent the agency's values of Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, Creativity, and Integrity.\nAs a Save the Children employee who will come into contact with children on a routine basis, you are expected to prevent child abuse in every situation by striving, through mental awareness, good practice, and training, to minimize risk to children. You must take positive steps to protect children who may be a subject of concern and report, respond to any instance of child abuse, and promote training and awareness around all child-safeguarding obligations.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)\nnot inclusive of all role responsibilities. May be subject to change\nProvide regular transportation services for Head Start children while following the safest and most efficient routes;\nObey all applicable laws, Head Start/Early Head Start regulations, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maintaining route schedules, and reporting all concerns to supervisor and relevant family services staff;\nProvide regular bus maintenance, including vehicular fluid levels;\nComplete essential maintenance paperwork, safety checklist, and report damage/malfunctions to the transportation supervisor;\nPerform bus safety drills.\nEnsure internal and external vehicular cleanliness and that recordkeeping, damage/malfunction reporting, safety equipment/seat belt safety are maintained;\nPerform bus entry/exit monitoring;\nEnsure educational/social interaction with children and communication with parents/families as needed.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications\nMinimum of a High School diploma or G.E.D.\nMust be a minimum of 21 years of age.\nMust have a valid Commercial Driver’s License, with a school bus & passenger endorsement in accordance with state laws, and a good driving record.\nProven ability to follow directions and take initiative.\nAdditional Qualifications\nPhysical Requirements related to essential functions: Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 5-10 pounds constantly, performing such activities as sitting, crawling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping. This also includes some duties that require repetitive action and motion skills, keyboarding, and computer use.\nClear pre-employment background check requirements, including local, state, and national criminal records check, sex offender registries, employment, and education verifications (including child abuse registry check if required by state regulations), and pass all state and local health requirements required post-job offer and prior to employment.\nThis position may require the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle to fulfill certain essential functions of the job.
