This role blends DevOps engineering, secure deployments, automation, and customer-facing leadership; you will ensure system reliability, drive automation, maintain compliance, and act as the on-site technical lead.\n\nKey Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)\nDeploy, operate, and optimize applications in a secure environment\nArchitect, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for secure, repeatable deployments\nPerform advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident response\nImplement security hardening and compliance (STIGs, RMF, NIST)\nAutomate infrastructure and application workflows using Terraform/Ansible and related tools\nOwn documentation for deployments, runbooks, and operational procedures\nLead system upgrades, patches, and lifecycle management activities\nMentor junior engineers and act as the on-site technical authority\nFluency in English (written and spoken)\nMust have active Secret clearance; T/S Preferred\n\nEducation\nBachelors Degree in a relevant field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\nRequired Skills, Experience & Abilities\n7+ years in DevOps/SRE/Systems Engineering\nExpertise with CI/CD (GitLab CI/Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions)\nExperience with containers & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)\nInfrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform, Ansible, or similar)\nProficiency with server operating systems (Linux, Windows) and shell scripting; strong networking fundamentals\nExperience working in secure or restricted environments\nCertifications in one or more of the following: Azure/AWS/GCP\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working with the Department of State\nExperience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and integrating AI models into existing platform\n3+ years’ experience with an object-oriented programming language\nExcellent communication and customer engagement skills\nStrong problem-solving and critical thinking skills\nProfessionalism and positive attitude in workplace interactions\nInitiative and ability to take ownership of tasks/projects\nComfort with ambiguity and learning on the job\nStrong work ethic and reliability\nAbility to work well independently or as part of a team.\nWillingness to learn new tools or procedures\nPositive attitude toward safety and following protocols.\nProblem-solving and troubleshooting mindset\n\nPhysical Demands & Work Environment\nThe physical demands and work environment described are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the *essential functions of this job.
