Cash Application Specialist
Job DescriptionThe Cash Application Specialist is responsible for performing cash postings for ambulance medical receivables and verifying data for use in maintaining accounts records by performing the following duties.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCompiling and sorting documents such as invoices and copies of checksPreparing cash batches by identifying the batch and setting it up in TriTech (billing software)Using computer data processing system to post funds received to appropriate accountsReconciling posted checks received with checks depositedProcessing write-offs in accordance with Federal/State regulations and/or company policyPost debits and credits to practice management system in accordance with insurance explanation of benefits (EOB)Download and post EFT transactions to practice management systemMaintaining appropriate reconciliation and tracking logs in ExcelWorking Special Projects as assignedPerforming other duties as assigned.QualificationsProficient with a PCPrior Medical accounts receivable experienceAbility to read and interpret EOBsKnowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)Knowledge of procedure and diagnostic codes (HCPCS and ICD-10 codes)Knowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge of Medical BillingAbility to work independently and with a groupProficient with MS Word and MS ExcelAbility to maintain effective working relationships.Thorough knowledge of office practicesAbility to type at least 35 words per minute.Proficiency using 10 keyEducation and Experience RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GEDMinimum of one year revenue cycle management experiencePhysical RequirementsAbility to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Work may require sitting, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical exertion.Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.Must possess visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and operate a motor vehicle.Travel TimeNegligibleNOTEThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the person assigned to this job.
