Read, create, and maintain splicing schematics, and diagrams, and create/maintain accurate splicing and field notes. Maintain control of outside plant (OSP) - inside plant (ISP) activities surrounding the assigned work area(s). Support project timelines, conduct inspections, designing and providing accurate as-builts for projects. Other duties, responsibilities and qualifications may be required and/or assigned. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)\n\nEssential Position Functions:\nAble to splice/test fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon cables.\nAble to read and interpret work orders, specifications, engineering drawings and/or cut sheets to determine work to be done in sequence of task.\nAble to construct proper splice cases including but not limited to grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing.\nAble to perform work in accordance with TIA and RUS standards, as well as customer specific standards.\nMust be comfortable entering and maintaining existing splice enclosures.\nKnowledge of the installation of fiber optic cable in new and existing conduit.\nAble to terminate, test, troubleshoot and maintain fiber optic networks.\nMust have good attention to detail regarding setting up splice locations, termination points, and general fiber optic construction.\nAble to place a mid-sheath splice.\nAble to test/troubleshoot fiber using OTDR.\nEnsure that all work considers the safety of the customer and public and compliance with all governmental orders.\nAbility to safely utilize bucket trucks, access manholes, and hand holes.\nUse of hand tools, ladders, and equipment to assist in the completion of an assigned project.\nDaily documentation of work performed, material usage, and other record keeping tasks.\nDaily timekeeping required.\nPerform work following established and TrueNet mandated Safety and Health guidelines.\nAbility to solve problems quickly and effectively with little to no supervision.\nOther duties as required.\nAdditional Expectations:\nConstruction work is project-driven and may vary in availability based on client demand and workload. When role-specific assignments are not available, employees may be required to perform other related duties within the construction or telecommunications field. These duties may include, but are not limited to, ground support, site preparation, equipment maintenance, warehouse support, or assisting with other company projects as assigned.\nEducation and/or Experience:\nHigh school diploma or GED preferred.\n3+ years of fiber splicing experience is preferred.\nAbility to read and follow engineering design maps.\nMust have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).\nAdobe Acrobat skills preferred.\nMust be able to efficiently use a Windows-based computer.\nAbility to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.\nAble to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.\nStrong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communications skills.\nMust be able to work alone, and with a team.\nMust be able to pass and maintain FOT certification.\nMust possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.\nMust be able to pass a background check and drug screen.\nPhysical Demands:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.
